Tata made two bad investment decisions in England and is facing financial crunch. Already tried to garner investment from public for first time with 11%, .Also through nano booking amount (1,40,000 for high end model) desperately trying to have some cash. No money Manchester.

tatas can't even sponsor the tata football acadamey in jamshedpur currently
It always depends on your Target market...And Tata is a diversified Business which caters from Automobile to IT...Its defenitely a gud ploy for its entry into the european market specially for its Automobile Vertical...Considering the Economy slowdown and consumer's buying behavious defenitely small car's and competively priced car's have good potential in this market...tata have already established a supply chain through its jaguar aquisition and Tata is an potentially sound entity to enter the European market ...But will $100 worth all this...Visibility alone can't sell a brand...awareness also plays a role.
They(ManU) know AIG's gone kaput. And their value is dwindling fast. No one's there to come forward with USD 100 million just to have it's name on a football team's jersey.
Tata's if interested need to bargain hard. The deal could be even sealed at 1/10th asking price.
They earlier approached Sahara and now Tata that too in India. God knows how many more companies across the world they might have approached by now.Pity, sad state for a team like ManU.

Dear friend, lemme give you some figures here and then may be you want to reassess if one tenth the price is really a bargain TATA's can call for.
Cristiano Ronaldo - about $ 10 million a year. Thats just one player and you see that you are already busting your deal.
Then you have Wayne Rooney, Nani, Scholes, Giggs...Just google and you will know how much they are worth.
So nah, one tenth the price offer, not a smart offer. In fact as I wrote earlier, probably sponsoring Man U right now might not be a good PR move by TATA's when they are struggling to save their newly aquired pride of Jguar and Land Rover.

I agree and disagree with you. I agree that tata can not talk of tenth figure. 100 million is good price for ManU t-shirt sponsor. no way tata can get better deal than this.
I disagree that this is not good PR move. Tata has recently bought 2 companies in UK but both are not disaster. CORUS is in prfits. its just that due to meltdown, tata has had dificulty in arranging funds which would not have been a problem otherwise.
JLR may be in trouble but are very good buys. If marketed properly, Jaguar can be in league of AUDI/MERC/BMW.
However, tata still needs PR to be known in each and every house holds. I am in UK and have seen that TWINNINGS TEA is used in each household but nobody knows its a TATA product. box just says in small font 'A TATA PRODUCT'. warnings on cig boxes are bigger in size.
With MANU, they can be known world over and also gives them liberty to write TATA in bolds on thousands of product they sell.

yes, with 1 trillion Rs debt from different banks and financial, they are the best suited to be sponsors.

mamta bannerji will now fast demanding sponsorship for mohan bagan and east bengal instead..and might even form a soccer team called woman breaster united..and then approach the tatas for sponsorship
Regarding sponsorship - TATA's is in the process of arm twisting the British Govt to grant some bail out money else it threatened to slash jobs. They are still trying to get their $ 2 billion loan refinanced. I am not sure how good an image it will create for the company, especially in Europe, where it is threatning to slash jobs at the same time considering sponsoring Man U.
I am a fan of Man U and having a TATA logo will be the ultimate kick but I feel, time is not right yet.

The problem with $2bn loan is something unforeseeable due to the economic downturn. Tata is one of the most consistent companies when it came to maintaing debt-less books year-after-year. Thus, I don't personally hold them responsible trying to slash jobs as a cost-cutting measure that will help them with $2bn loan. As far as ManU T-shirt sponsorship is concerned, I personally see $100m as an inappropriate expense when Tata can actually pump this money in the economy and may be save some jobs, start new offices or whatever.

u r d biggest suc*er of all dude.keep licking your fingers ..MAN u s d best if u don agree just do wat i said it will help u relax
Sound wonderful. Sadly association with ManU is kind of not lucky(read AIG). TATA group has 1 Trillion rupees debt to care for. So its better to exercise caution & remain conservative.
