you don't get half a goal if you hit the goal post you don't get half a win if you lose by 1 run in cricket and you do not get half he wimbledon if you lose the final is the fifth set 6-8.
So why not give the trophy to player with most wins?
Drivers championship should go to the most consistent driver and not driver who wins most races. In this scenario Driver championship may be decided much sooner rather than going down to the wire. also earlier system was better in the sense that driver who becomes champion has not only earned victories but has also been close to victory in most of the races. Not sure what FIA is trying to do by changing the rule

I think this is a right decision. The incentive to play safe once somebody was in a 2nd or 3rd position was high. Now people would really fight to come on top. Points system was manipulated by people like Hamilton, who would rarely make aggressive manouvres. The current system is biased against people like Massa or even Aryton Senna, who would just concentrate on winning & in the process losing their cars. The current system favours people who play safe.

What this will do is make every race more competitive since any defensive tactics will no longer be possible. Drivers will not settle for a 2nd place and instead fight for a victory each time for each race, this makes every race also important.
