i doubt if they did the right thing...i know chennai ppl are very happy coz its a big tie n they are really supportive, but that was one tournament where he did well, since then he has been playing on hard courts at the challenger level n has been losing all his matches.also, this would somewhat be the surface thats used for aussie open,so,hewitt is going to feel good about it.n apart from somdev, nobody has done well on these courts(rohan boppanna, for instance). so,if they had chosen grass, rohan, paes n bhupathi would have felt most comfortable...it can't be about one player, there are three others who have to perform...n somdev can adjust to grass n still get us a match. if it is about favouring somdev, then clay would have been the best option.i am sure chennai has clay courts.somdev is known to have clay as his favourite surface...paes-bhup have won french.also,it is not australia's best surface....guccione is a serve n volley player, also hewitt is not at his best on clay...n aus has got experienced doubles players...so we can't take it for granted that paes-bhup will win.aus is a difficult team. so,while you r making just one player of your team very comfortable, you r also making the whole of the other team comfortable too,by choosing hard-courts. aniways, good luck india!chennai ppl are really lucky...they r going to enjoy this.
it was really a good news for all the CHENNAITS as we will witness the Tennis Sensation of the Indian Tennis playing again in the Nungambakkam court at Chennai. I wish all the very best to the Indian team for the Devis Cup World group play-off to be held in Chennai.
