The culture of the US is amazing. They go to the top of whatever they set their minds to.Be it Sports or any other arena.I am glad they havent started playing cricket seriously yet!

they've dominated far too many sports. its good that others too are winning. good effort by team USA though, they arent exactly known for soccer.

Sad to see only 8-10 interactions in the message board. Cricket which is played at the international level between 8/9 serious, has more than 150 interactions compared to cricket message board. World over about 200 countries are recognised football playing nations. Frog in the well syndrome

How will you enjoy a match in which a hapless team gets beaten by say a margin of 14-0. The same will happen if cricket is opened to all and sundry teams. Basically football too is dominated by around 10 nations like Brazil, Germany, Italy, Argentina etc. But FIFA has opened the gates for all teams because it is popular. This is true for all sports. Cricket is still played by the best teams and as such the quality of the games are maintained. Indians have chosen to love a game that matches their pshyche which is cricket. Cricket is a long drawn game with lots of twists and turns expected and finally it may end up in a draw. So too is India's history. Its long and never ending. Be proud that you belong to such a nation that has chosen a sport that is closer to them rather than following some other sports just because it is loved by the rest of the world.

get over it. look at how popular baseball is, or for that mater scores of other sports. its the people's choice.

we should be investing more in football though. our talent lacks the necessary push

@ balaji, hey i dunno wat kinda bullshit theory u're promoting....what the hell does sport have to do with our history??We cud be good at any sport as long as we r willing to invest in it and promote....we are good at cricket(or so we think) becoz we invest millions in it, promote it, keep the cricketers on a pedestal and the thousands of coaching camps and tournaments that r held to identify talent...the same thing cud be done in football too and we cud try to be good at it....the beautiful game is awesome and has a global appeal and reach that cricket can never even aspire to achieve.....our prob is people like u who keep mixin stupid things with sports.....here it is ur history.....on the other hand it is politics....with politicians comin in to head sports associations...wen will india learn to take sports seriously i wonder.....we expect gr8 things from our team but wont invest half of wat we pay cricketers per match.....politicians do their job as sports heads part time coz their main job is politics....so how the hell can they expect gr8 outcomes??u do the job part time, u get a part timers' result....

Tushar

one is lucky that there are only 8-10 posts. if it were like cricket, then out of the 150, 145 would have been on non-cricket issues like abuses, religion, racism, poster's anatomy and what each poster would like to do to all other dissenting posters !

it is time to rejoice when all the 8-10 posts are from serious and knowledgeable connoisseurs of the game ! that is 100% hit rate!

the match was very good, though I thought Brazil took it a little easy in the first half and the intensity was missing. one did not see the urgency in their moves. Maybe the result of their group match was in the back of their mind.

cheers

Brazil played like true champions. Had it not been for Howard and a bad referee decision US would been beaten by a humiliating margin.. But its not to deny that US played amazing football defying its FIFA rankings. I believe they will be a team to reckon in the times to come.

Brazil... True Champions
by Guest on Jun 29, 2009 09:29 AM

Brazil played like a true champion. Thanks to Howard and a wrong decision that US lost just by 2-3. However compared to their FIFA rankings USA played truely amazing football and displayed that dismissing Euro Champions was no fluke. I believe US will soon be a force to reckon with in the coming years..
