"We all know that she is glamorous and has the assets to keep men glued to the TV sets."
Fortunately, all men are not cheap and lecherous like you....your statement itself proves what a low level filthy person you are...that you don't see high achieving women as anything more than objects or pieces of meat.......feel sad for you!!

Aman, why u relate pakistani victory to sania victory, becos both a are muslim.? Sania is an average player who is hyped becos of her good looks and not play. Why the media is not giving same coverage to a Saina Nehwal who is ranked under 10 in badminton and won a big tourney few days ago.
Re: Re: sania

Sania is not amon best female indian athletes, She is best female tennis player thats it. There are many female players who have achieved more than Sania at world level. Sania never won any big tourney at world level and never was one of the top 10 player.
Most of the INDIANs who follow Sania's tennis can easily predict wht is going to happen in the next round. All of us could have supported and wished her if she concentrated more on tennis than some tv adds or some other stuff.
Anyways...lets see whts going to happen. We can only hope that she will not backout in middle of game like she did in olympics and bring insult to our nation.

Saina is multitalented by being in 2 countries same time and winning final and first rd. She has Star Trek transporter machine.
she is a highly over-rated player.. why is her first round win given prominence? she dint win an open like Saina ? Does she deserve a headline news? is it becoz, ppl click to see ur news, u cover her matches?
Re: why do u cover her non-performance rediff?

Probably because she's the only Indian woman playing in such a highly popular sport and tournament. Rediff is essentialy a site for Indians, and hence only natural that a fellow Indian sportswoman playing in a premiere tournament like Wimbledon gets the space she does. Sure there are other indian sportswomen excelling elsewhere billiards, badminton; but seriously are these sports or tournaments as popular as tennis or a wimbledon. How many more know about a Wimbledon rather than the Indonesian open for Badmiton? How many badminton players or billiard female players can an average indian name? compare that with how many women tennis players an average indian can name?I remember even in the DD days they used to telecast Wimbledon live on tv. Note, I'm not comparing the technical or physical aspect of two sports, just the popularity of the two. Is it Sania's fault that she happens to play in such a popular sport which no other Indian women now does. She might not be close to the best in the world, but she is the best we've got; grant her that atleast.

She is always given prominence because of her good looks, good assets...Nothing more...I am sure once she gets married and settles down she won't be more than a model or a cine / TV actress...Nothing more than that...

absolutely venkatesh I bet there will no women in INDIAN history to touch or ever get 10% of Sania Mirza has achived ONLY INDIAN To play in all the GRAND SLAMS, i think this is enough beanch march for other to touch this...

ur an idiot , Saina Nehwal just won a big tourney in Badminton and she is top 10 player. PT USHA and many other athletes achieved many medals for india in asiads and reached finala in olympics and world events. Anju won bronze medal in world event. India has 3 time world boxing champion in Mary Khom. India has world women chess champion and many other women athletes achieved great victories at world level. sania has not achieved nothing at world level and is popular not becos of her play but becos of her glamor. Before Sania, Nirupama Vaidyanathan played in all grandslams and reached 3rd round in Australian open.

10% will come when indians take mind off cricket in first place.
Sania couldnt live upto her potential mainly because of injury and might have lost focus in the middle as well. Hopefully she'll shrugg off the under-achiever tag and reach a good distance here

thats fine, even she crashes out in 1st round, she is the only women who have played all the GRAND slams from INDIA
