Indians donot know who has become Mr. Universe in Bentamweight section this time.He is Mr. Mahadev Deka from Assam. The result came to India when Saina become champion in Indonesian Open. But no media coverage him, no congratulations. Why? Is it because he is an Assamese? Shame.

Mr. Das, as far as I know only Rediff did not bring any article on Mr. Deka, so not to blame entire media and as you know in the world of sport we have few achievers from India, so definitely people like Mr. DEKA will not be sidlined and they will get due recognisation.

Das Ji, chill, Mr. Universe and Miss. Universe is not a sport!!! If you have said "Miss" then definitely you would have seen on head lines of all the news channels but not Mr. :-)

I think this is not because of that guy is from assam. This is just because Indian government is indifferent toward achievements of Indians in any field other than cricket. This is really shameful. This has already happened with many olympic winners and our chess champ Anand.
Few days ago rediff has a news which an American has won, please keep posting some thing which INDIANs do and INDIANs win, there are lots around us. Please don’t mention some thing which INDIAN’s haven’t won and you have projected it as “AMERICAN INDIAN” – stop that!!
Heart felt congratulations to Ms Saina nehwal and coach sri Pullela Gopichand for the Great Event of being a Champion. Keep it up and Enjoy the wonderful moment in History.

Another Indian woman player with big bulges on her chest does not make it beyond the 2nd round in a different racket game. It is better to have no bulges in the chest and win rather than have bulges in the chest and lose!!!
