yup, class is permanent, hence, federer won 2008 US Open and 2009 French Open despite being far off his best form!

yes, it would have been nice to watch the two of them go at it again...but Nadal really has to alter his game...otherwise, this knee injury will keep on flaring up...i had said before too that it is only a matter of time before his body gives way...

If things work out, he recovers from his knee problem, Nadal will have had the time to rethink his
game. He will start slowing down,
playing more percentage tennis,
instead of going for broke on every shot that he fires.

NADAL & FEDERER - BOTH ARE CHAMPIONS
by tullaram on Jun 20, 2009 08:34 AM  | Hide replies

IT SEEMS THERE IS SOME SORT OF JEALOUSY N SOFT HATRED FOR THE ACHIEVEMENTS OF FEDERER.HENCE,EVERY NOW N THAN WHENEVER NADAL PULLS OUT OR LOOSES PEOPLE JUST JUMP TO CONCLUSION TAT FEDERER IS A WEAK PLAYER N HAS GOT A GOD SNED OPPORTUNITY TO WIN WITHOUT FACING THE HURDLE OF NADAL.I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY WE HATE HIM SO MUCH.ONE OF THE REASON COULD BE WE OURSLEVES IN OUR LIFE ARE TOO USED TO FAILURES N DISASTERS THAT WE JUST CANNOT TOLERATE THE DOMINATION N ACHIVEMENT OF ANYOTHER PLAYER.FEDERER WAS A DOMINATING PLAYER.TODAY HE IS JUST TRYING TO PROTECT HIS REPUTATION N WIN SOME MATCHES FOR HIMSELF.HE IS AGING N WE NEED TO RESPCT TAT.EVEN LEGENDARY TENDULKAR OR DRAVID,GANGULY,OR LARA, WARNE HAVE AGED N SOME HAVE FOUND A DECENT WAY TO EXIT WHILE REMAIN AT TOP N OTHERS R FINDING IT DIFFICULT TO COPE UP THE FACT THAT THEY R NO LONGER THAT DOMINATING PLAYERS.ITS PART N PARCEL OF LIFE OF EVERY LEGENDARY PLAYER. FEDERER IS NO EXCEPTION
N TO QOUTE NADAL AT START OF FRENCH OPEN,HE SAID IF HE CUD DECIDE THE FATE OF FINAL THAN HE WOULD ALWAYS LOVE TO PLAY AGAINST FEDERER.
PLAYERS DO NOT CHOOS WHO THEY MEET IN FINALS. I M SURE NONE OF OUR INDIANS FANS HAD THOT TAT INDIA WOULD BE BOGGED OUT OF THE T20 WORLD CUP.BUT THEY GOT OUT
FEDERER HAS TO PLAY HIS NATURAL GAME N GOOD TENINS TO WIN WIMBELDON.N OTHERS HAVE TO PLAY THEIR EXCEPTIONAL GAME TO PUT A HURDLE IN HIS PATH
SO LETS WISH NADAL SPEEDY RECOVERY.NADAL N FEDERER ARE 2 GENIUS OF OUR TENINS,WE SHUD RESPECT THEIR TALENT N ENJOY GUD TENINS

hey CAPS LOVER, FYI it may not all be jealousy...maybe people get bored by seeing FedEx win all the time which is not really good for the sport...the beauty of sport lies in its unpredictability and if one man is supposed to win every time he plays, it makes the sport dull n boring. Fed himself knows that a fully fit Nadal is his only threat...over the last and and half years Nadal alone has mainly prevented FedEx from winning that 14th slam and that is why fans want Nadal to play all the time. He does make tennis really competitive. Andy Rod tried several times but was not a match for FedEx while Novak, Montfils, Verdasco etc., are all good players but maybe not good enough to challenge FedEx consistently...Murray maybe able to do it

chindhee you are right. Leander Paes is the most underated player in the world.Remember he defeated Sampras only time they met.Federer is lucky because Paes is not playing singles now.

Now that Nadal is out of the participation, it is a Goldern opportunity for Federer to break Sampras' record of 14 Grand-Slam titles..

Pat Rafter beats Agassi and then loses to Sampras in Wimbledon finals, Doesn't mean Rafter is better than Agassi. Just breathe some logic in your argument before bashing Nadal, after Nadal really thrashed the stuffing out of FedEx in last year's French open Final...never seen a final like that since Sampras retired...hahahaha

u ppl remember one thing sampras never reached french open final or even semifinal.....but all tym federer reached 4 finals in a trot and win convinincgly...and also remember 20 consecutive grand slam finals and record equalling 19 grand slam finals and 14 tym champion..he completed the career grand slam and also 14 grand slams .....roger is the kingggggg

Sampras did make it to French semi finals once and was beaten in 5 sets by Kafelnikov...Pete relied a lot on his killer serves, but French clay never favors big serving players...and I am not a Sampras fan...I am totally an Agassi fan and always felt extra happy when Agassi won a major beating Pete...that is why people love when FedEx and Rafa play...they make the sport awesome to watch...hardcore FedEx fans like don't seem to acknowledge the fact that Nadal is the only guy beating FedEx consistently in spite of not having a balanced game and in spite of relying only on muscle power...Andy Roddick has bombs for serves, Novak has a better game than Nadal, Murray seems to be ever improving, yet these players still can't threaten Roger all the time which is what makes Nadal special...

I remember last year's French Open finals where FedEx won 3 games or something while Rafa won 3 sets...Nadal at his best is always going to make FedEx sweat...he made FedEx cry at the presentation of the Aus Open finals this year...Kings don't cry and if they do, they really owe it to the class of their opponents

Nadal's exhausted. In his obsession to be no.1 & defeat federer every time, he has been putting too much of strain on his body. Now its showing, he's gonna wear out too soon.

Nadal might be "defo" the champion, but if he were in such a 'tearing' form he'd win a few more matches when he's at his peak, not lose here and there, or chickening out from major tournaments when his supposed 'bunny' regains form.

FedEx too lost one too many matches both in 2008 and 2009 FYI...he was even beaten by his compatriot Wawrinska once...whether it is Nadal or FedEx, form is temporary and class in permanent dude
