to those who still argue
by sriram ambalavanan on Jun 16, 2009 12:45 PM

see what the great Jimmy Connors say.... there are specialists in this era, a clay cour specialist, or a grass court specialist, or a hard court specialist or a roger federer ..... let us stop comparing champions ... ROGER is ROGER he has the consistency.... no champion has taken 20 consecutive semi finals in the grand slams including nadal and sampras... roger is a man among men ... hats off roger and i am sure with the pressure out, you will go ahead with winning back your wimbledon....

Kudos to federer

His victory would become part of folklore. This also demonstrates that he is really a champion. It is easy to scale a summit but it is entirely other world to keep the momentum from thereon. Federer kept his No. 1 ranking for 237 weeks at the same time absorbing pressure . No matter how many times Nadal beat him, he dusted himself and prepared for another battle. Nadal on other hand could not cope up with pressure that comes with No. 1 ranking. I think from now on begins Federer streak that even Nadal would find difficult to match.Federer is epitome of Optimism and never say die spirit. Let's emulate peole like him

Let Rafa wait at Landon. But don't forget to tell him that he has to get the ticket for the final.

Those who know the technicalities of professional tennis will accept what I have said. Soderling beat Nadal beacuse Nadal had a bad day. It didn't mean that Soerling is a better player than Nadal.
For the fanatic fans of Roger I have nothing to say.

you think nadal had a bad day on 4th round. you must be wrong. because soderling won against Devydenko and Gonzalez. So as technically speaking Soderling is capable of beating nadal if he had good day. Its Rogers hardwork and determination he won the championship. It doesnt matter whether its Soderling or Nadal. So keep your techinal skills up to date ....

And Roger won two 5 set matches you can see how much he got metally strong. and his back hand placements and serve statistics.

Have u watched all the matches or not. Federer is the greatest. Even Nadal agreed that.Ur comment is not at all going to change his fame. Sampras also said the same. So stop commenting and comparing federer with nadal. Please comment with a common sense.

Check the head to head records mate! It is 9 to 6 infavour of Nadal including 6 wins in grand slam finals.
In Wimbledon I fancy Murray to win against Rager if it is not Nadal.

Hey Shankar, what's wrong with you man? Nadal has won almost all his grnad slams on Clay court, but Federer has won on every four surfeces now. Nadal's game is just power game, it is good until his body is supporting him, then he'll be a goner. That's skill that lasts long. From the last five-six years, he's made his way in all finals (except one) and has beat different players during this drive. Nadal is obviously is talented player but he's not a great one yet. He has a long way to go to become a great.

You guys are going with the flock. If power can win you matches, then people like Andy Roddick should have won 20 grand slams. It's just the sheer intensity and determination of Nadal secured him this many Grand Slams. Just simple reason, Nadal won 6 grand slams beating the best player in the world in the finals. Federar, always bit the dust against Rafa except the Wimbledon final. I am sure Federer will end up crying like a school girl in Wimbledon.

@sankar
let me remind u that Roger has made it to the semis 20 times in a row in grand slams. He has lost in the semis only 3 times (one each to Rafa,Safin & Djokovic). On all the other ocassions he went on to reach the finals. Thats consistency for U, my dear.It only takes a player like Rafa to stop him. He hardly bows out to players of lesser ability in Grand slams unlike Rafa, who has been beaten by players far below his own standards. And how could u forget that Roger got the better of Nadal in the Madrid open just before the French open. Wimbledon is Roger's favourite surface & with the french open tiltle under his belt, I dont see anyone stopping him from winning the record breaking 15th title there.

shankar, let us see what happens in London at that time... but this is the time to celebrate the victory of a great champion... if you think it is a win against a substandard player, remember rafa lost to the substandard player in round 4. if you argue it was a bad day for rafa and just think it had been bad days for roger against nadal.... see the consistency of roger and he had been to the finals every time in the last 4 years..

Heartful wishes and CONGRATS to my favourite player!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep going Fedex now I really have confidence on you that u will regain No.1 spot and can complete 20 Grand slams in your career.
And at the end I would like to mention You will easily win over (in straight sets) NADAL, from now, why i am telling this is you have the caliber and enough of talent but u were lacking confidence earlier. Now the game is in your controle from now ust go ahead dont turn back till you feel bored. bye for now
