I have found that his forehand and ground strokes are too good. In form Nadal unable to give answers to Robin's Forehand. If we consider the form Fedex is not at its best. But he is playing better than average tennis. But his second serve is not good as it was in past. Robin is inexperience so Fed can take the advantage. Best of luck for Federer . The situation is now or never. Nadal is out so Fed grab the opportunity.
I bet soldering will be french open champion.sorry for fedex fans.Have you look at fedex his body language is not same and also not confident.Lowly ranked players like hass n petro taken him to five sets is that possible earlier. He is feeling insecure and soldering got nothing to loose everything to gain.He will finish off fedex in four sets. Its also good for tennis that every slam have new champion so that others feel motivated.Unless it will become liek F1 ferrari n shaumaker

By Jimmy Connors': "In an era of specialists - you're either a clay court specialist, a grass court specialist or a hard court specialist... or you're Roger Federer".
He doesnt need Bitu Singh kinda people who dont know anything about tennis to predict or praise him.

if you have noticed how the 5th seed Del Potro played in this French Open, then you wouldn't have made this comment. Del Potro was playing brilliantly and it's sad that he lost to FedEx yesterday. And it's only the masters brilliance and patience paid off yesterday. I would love to see FedEx lifting the cup tomorrow.

Federer shouldn't take it for granted that he's going to win this...otherwise, matches like yesterday's can easily go the other way.
The million dollar question is, will Federer do it? 20th consecutive Semi-Finals in Grand Slam events, 19 of them finals and 13 titles. One only hopes that he gets the 14th title to equal the record of Sampras and it will be a fitting tribute to his greatness if he can get it on the dirt bowl of Roland Garros! By the by, have Nadal fans noted that he has withdrawn from Queens because of knee problems! Nadal's game is totally physical and slowly it is taking its toll on his body, especially his knees which has run miles and miles on the clay courts of Europe (23 of his 38 titles are on Clay Courts)! He has declared that he will be fit to defend his Wimbledon crown. One wishes it is true!!!

Halo Vasudevan Uncle. From your posts, you seem to be a genuine Tennis lover. Federer should win it, should something untoward not happen. It will be a historic event, and only the cynical will be displeased at having been witness to it. So, count me in to join the party. Nadal, I think made a crucial mistake in deciding to participate in Madrid Open. Perhaps he had become too confident and cocky, for which he paid the price at Roland Garros. I find it difficult to believe that because Nadal plays a very physical game, his body is showing signs of wear and tear at 22, but no matter who he is, he has to give due respect to his body, and schedule his calender in such a way as to provide his body with due rest too. How Richard Hadlee prolonged his career is a case in the point. MS Dhoni skipped the Test Series in Sri Lanka to repair his broken cells. So, if Nadal is taking a break before Wimbledon, it is sagacious and well earned. It should also send warning signals to his opponents: They will be facing a rejuvenated Nadal. With 4 Slams being played on 3 different surfaces, I think if anyone has a slightest chance of winning all 4 in a year, it is Nadal. When Laver won his slams, all tournaments except the French were played on Grass, and it was easier.

Dear Aishwarya Patil: You talk of Laver and the surfaces he played on. How about the racquet he used to play with? Wooden! Do you mean to say the present day players can produce the type of speed they produce today, if they play with wooden racquets? The present day equipment sometimes makes even ordinary players look great. That is what equipment has done to the game. Anyway, when you talk of Federer or Sampras or Nadal, you have to talk about them only as post-Laver era. After all, Laver won the calendar Grand Salm in 1962, became a professional, played the Grand Slams again only in 1969 when they were thrown open and promptly won the Grand Slam. Just imagine the number of Grand Slams he would have won if he had played between 1963 and 1969 also! Irrespective of the surface advantage you talk about, the records of Sampras, Federer, Nadal etc. fades before that of Laver as he could have easily won 25! And remember, he had very great opponents to contend with in Australia itself, leave alone the rest of the world (including our own Ramanathan Krishnan!). Coming to Nadal, he has to play more tournaments because he is more of a retriever than a play maker and he will not have the same rhythm in his game and the success of Federer if he plays in lesser number of tournaments!

Mr.Sameer: Everyone has been wishing the worst for Federer since the beginning of 2008! But look at his record in Grand Slams even when he is in the worst of his form since the beginning of 2008, he has reached five finals and one Semis! Even the in-form Nadal, who has swept everything before him over the last 1 1/2 years cannot boast of such a record!!! Even if Federer blows it (one prays he wins!), he is already great and there is nothing left for him to prove about his greatness!

I'm also agreed with you Vasu. I always believe Nadal plays power game and power game doesn't last long. It's skill that matters. Wining 13 out of 18 grand slams isn't something you or me can do. He's a master of this game. I'm sure if he plays his best he will win!

Err Vasudev, Grats for Jumping the gun !! Did you even comprehend what I wrote ? Do you see me question fedex's abilities ? By the way, he has reached the finals of this Grand Slam too , tell me one thing --how many grandslams has he won since jan 2008 ?

Good question, Sameer. These guys want to belittle Nadal's exploits of last a year and a half because he did not reach the Semi-Final of the US Open 2008. It is the sixth Slam since Jan 2008. Nadal won 3, Reached semi-final in 1, QF in 1 and 4th round in 1. Federer won 1, reached the final in 3, and semi-final in 2. Which is better? I think Federer will gladly exchange his record with Nadal.

Mr.Sameer: I never said you have questioned Federer's abilities. I only said Fedex, even if he blows this 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, has nothing to prove to the world! As for both you and Aishwarya talking of Nadal's record vis-a-vis Federer, everyone agrees that Federer was in the worst of form since the beginning of 2008. In spite of this, no one except Nadal could take advantage of the same in the Grand Slams. As for Nadal, in spite of being in the best of form, lost in the Semis of 2008 US Open and in the fourth round at Roland Garros (virtually his home ground!) this year. This can mean only one thing! Federer reserves his best for the Grand Slams and his opponents have to be at their very best (like Nadal over the last 1 1/2 years) to beat him in a Grand Slam. May be from here on Federer may start losing more. But nothing can take away what he has already achieved, even if Nadal wins 20 Grand Slams (which I highly doubt!).

it's funny seeing how aishwarya patil jumped ship to Federer's side when Nadal lost...
pls dntever compare him with anyone else then grts who has left the game....in today's picture nadal or murray or none will be to the standard of this guy's///just think reaching 19th grand slam final.............this is the feather he missed till last yr...if this comes everyone in this world has to bow their heads when fedex comes............hope god shows the way .........and 15th grand slam is wimbledon beating nadal in finals......
saw the match last nite. 1st 3 sets Fed was all at sea and dint knw hw to break del Petro serve. Bt it was the 4th set where he realy came into his own and showed the wrld y he is an all time gr8. Bt i guess he has been lucky through out this tournament and it seems his destiny to win this French Open......
Watching all these matches this time at Roland Garros, I have been forced to think on the following lines: 1. Federer should win tomorrow, but not without another tough fight. 2. Federer is ahead for a tough time. Nothing is certain. He may win at Wimbledon, or he may be knocked out by a lowly ranked player. And he is not going to regain the World no. 1 crown. Certainly not this year. 3. I am beginning to see some sense in Anurag Rathore's logic, which till now, I considered wierd and wishful, that Federer is more difficult to beat in 5 setters, though he does not have a great record in 5 setters. The new generation of players hit the ball so hard and deep, serve so well, and are capable of packing all their energy in three sets, that Federer, who has always been a slow starter, by the time he starts finding his bearings, would find himself on the brink in a 3 set match. 4. For Nadal too, the road is not going to be all that smooth. Just like more and more players now think they can take on Federer, in about 2 years time, there would be a whole new crop of players in early twenties, ready to lock horns with Nadal. 5. Federer in addition to being in top physical condition, will also need luck to remain in Top 4. This time, he is having the luck on his side. The luckiest thing for him has beein the ouster of Nadal.

All the points are baseless and without logic 1. A win ensure 14 Grand slam and all Grandslam tournament is enough proof of class and consistency. 'but not without another tough fight' so useless comment 2. He won 13 Grandslams and all were not easily made. Tough time indeed he faced and to be a champion for so many years is always had been tough for him. Your Prediction is absurdly foolish 3. Statistics and averages are sometime waste if one count the trophies and consistency 4. Players like Nadal had to go a long distance to be par with Federer, though he is on the rise to achieve that. Those who win major tournaments are those who have immense self confidence at first and of course talent and good Physical condition 5. Lady Luck always favoured those who have that extra bit of talent and confidence

rightly said bro..forture favours the brave and lady luck favoured those who has that extra zing like fedex does and the rest doesnt. its all too easy to comment on these greats and even predict on their retirement just coz the newer generation needs to fill the gap...but should i say the same to their fathers who are in their late 50's and still working..please think over it its the past that we cherish coz future we cant predict.
