YUKI'S WIN
by ujjwal goswami on Jan 31, 2009 01:44 PM

Congrats for making INDIA proud. But donot allow yourself to become another low lelevel Indian sports person in the INTERNATIONAL sports arena.Avoid all media glare till you hold the AUSTRALIAN open men's singles CUP.
I am confident and my fellow country men also have faith in your capabilities.GOD BLESS YOU.
BEST OF LUCK!
Ujjwal Kumar Goswami

Bhambri's victory and what it means for Indian Tennis
by TheWicked wizard on Jan 31, 2009 01:29 PM  | Hide replies

Congrats Bhambri!!
But, this does not mean anything to Indian tennis as all Indian sportsmen win in some junior tournaments only to become sitting ducks in the Pro tour. They dont seem to have the drive, motivation and ability to compete at that level..
Also, tennis is not a game for the masses here and hence, there is no critical mass for development.

hence, no need to make too much Hungama about one small vistory

That is the problem with people like you.
Even in case of Vishy Anand the same was said but now he is the world chess champion. So I am sure you fool that in a matter of time you will be proved wrong.
Afetr all GOD IS GREAT.

Vishy Anand had to use his brains and his self confidence. In tennis one needs tremendous physical endurance. By past experience Indians have not had this. This is what is being said here. The only exception has been Prakash Padukone in badminton. Now Saina Nehwal is also doing this. But no Indian has done this in tennis in singles.

We can only hope that Yuki will be an exception to this rule and will continue to play like Saina Nehwal.

by mg on Jan 31, 2009 01:05 PM  | Hide replies

how long he can play in juniour level.. when he come to senior level he will be toyed around and soon like leander will become a doubles player. only somdev has the stamina to last in the singles at the pro level. bhambri is looking like a bamboo.

Even Somdev is just like Paes and Bhupathi. That Chennai open result should not be taken too seriously. Remember even Sania Mirza had won an International event in Hyderabad. Indian players do not have the physical and mental stamina to to play pro singles. They are as you said just good for doubles. Even Ramesh Krishnan and Leander Paees had won junior events.
