It shows Federer class........
by Anurag Rathore on Jan 28, 2009 11:22 AM  | Hide replies

Such was Federer's dominance, del Potro won just eight points in the second set and six in the third as the 27-year-old Federer advanced to his 19th successive Grand Slam semi-final.

Wow! What a show! Federer was at his absolute best, after a long long time.
If he can maintain this level of performance over a period of time, nobody, I repeat nobody, and that includes Nadal, would have any chance against him.
But the problem is: He cannot maintain this level for a long time.
Nadal at his best is near about 90% of Federer at his best, but Nadal is at his best at 90% of times, whereas Federer plays his best at about 50-60% of times. Therefore Nadal would always be tipped to win against Federer, as he has been doing, on a consistent basis.

Verdasco beats Murray. Some weeks ago he troubled Federer. Thats mean he has ability to trouble any player. No surprise in Murray lose.

Nadal is looking in great form. After Murray exit he is favorite to final.
Second finalist will be Federer who won 4th time in his career after losing first two sets. The best thing is he in not young but still has enough stamina to compete in a five sets match. Youngsters should learn from him, he is a perfect role model for youngsters.

Now you are talking sensible. 13 GrandSlam victories is not a joke. Federer at his 50 percent is better than most of the tennis players of today.
Yes he is not consistent nowadays, but I am again telling you beating him in a 5 sets match is still so difficult.
Look at Djokovic, he is 21 and facing fitness problem.

And you are talking emotional stuff, like always.
You should read second para of my original post.
Despite having played exceptionally well against Del Potro, Federer cannot be expected to maintain this high level of performance throughout the length of the final match, and hence, Nadal will always be tipped to win.
So, despite agreeing with Federer's superiority in terms of aesthetics, Nadal is the man who is going to be the ultimate winner.
Yours truly.

You are 100% right. Nadal is a player of arrogance, lacking elegance, charm or beauty / variety in his style of play. He is, somehow, successful but unless he learns elegance, people should resist themselves from comparing his success with other past greats and the present King Roger Federer. Federer never plays double handed and his power shots come with elegance.

Nadal is merely young blooded player with confidence. Nothing more. It will be interesting to see how long he will be able to retain the World No 1 status.

you guys must be crazy. what class have you seen in Federer that you did not see in Nadal. I am not a big fan of Nadal and so to federer. all i love is the game, and you think Nadal is No1 without any class...wake up guys...just because you like some one you cannot badmouth other. Have some respect for someone who is No1 currently.

Better the ATP wake up and take the symptons seriously. They should know that players are humans and not robots. If they donot bring reforms, very soon we will see only unseeded players in Grand slams.

Djakovic is a fluke player.
by Radhakrishna on Jan 27, 2009 04:05 PM  | Hide replies

Very long back India has produced one great Fluke player called vijay who on his day can beat any great player of those days but his great artistic play is not sustsainted for entire tournament period. Just like that now a days Djkovic is playing. Both of these players are not having mental as well as physical stamina, Of course Djkovic is luckey enough to win a grand slam at his early age.M ay be he can win another grand slam with great difficullty in his remaining career.

Facking illness
by m senthilkumar on Jan 27, 2009 03:29 PM

This is not the first time Djoker withdrew from the match due to illness. He has done this several times when he was at the verge defeat. he did this against Nadal in French and Wimbledon also against federer fewtimes.. He also alleged by tomy robredo for facking illness in one match when he took more injury time in the match...Djoker should grow up change his reputation
