Chennai Open is an ATP level tournament. So please do not abuse this tournament, and do not belittle the achievement of a young Indian tennis-player!

Roy. Assamese are born morons and servants of China.

Why do you bother and hype them as if they belong to India?

BTW are you pseudo secularist?

Cakewalk? Do you know what Tie-breaker means? Or, do you know what break-points mean? Somdev had earned 10 such break-points! He failed ultimately mostly due to inexperience at this level!

Mr. Roy. YOu are too excited against my brother.

Tie-breaker is easily understandable by any dumber (includes you).

How would you justify the sukking loss of 1st set 4-6???

Why does someone want to appreciate the tie-breaker???

Hence it wa a cakewalk for cicil

Well done Somdev - it was a great fight by you. You created history by reaching the final of this prestigious tournament as the first Indian. In you lies the future of the Indian tennis - you appear the successor to the great Indian tennis masters like Ramanathan Krishnan, Jaydip Mukherjee, Premjit Lal, Vijay Amritraj, Ramesh Krishnan, Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi. Congrats!

Its good, He should learn about how to show happiness, we should not get much excited when we wins and should not insult the compititor to show our happiness in wrong manner.

I never seen the liander pace or mahesh bhoopati showed that kind of nonsense excitement.

So In My opinion, whatever happened with him its good.

with the exception of Nadal. all tennis guys are big.. It is a tough field to win title as dominance of single player or two and three always there.

Somdev is 5'10" and he weighs 72 kilos. He is one the fastest men on US tennis circuit and is known for his aglity and swift serve and volley game. His amazing match that has been declared as the best match in 123 year history of NCAA against John Isner who is 6'9" and was fav to win the championship and is currently ranked 88 in the world. Now if he does not have the physique,he would have not been able to match these players. I hope no one needs reminding that the best players in Tennis were not physically the biggest player on circuit .. Michael Chang, Boris Becker, Stefen Edberg are all average size player with a good game. Be a man and support this guy rather than pulling him down. Give him some credit. Stop being typical Indian and learn to love your country and the people who represents your country.

Michael Chang - i understand - but Boris Becker??? He was 6ft. 3 inches tall and had an imposing frame that helped him go BOOM-BOOM with his serves - remember his nickname BOOM-BOOM Boris? Stefan Edberg was not far behind with 6 ft 1 1/2 inches. And remember, for all his agility, Chang could win only one Grand Slam which is what matters at the top level. I am not belittling Somdev's efforts, lets enjoy whatever he has achieved and hope that he will do so in the future too. But in tennis history, male players from Asia have never tasted Grand-slam success - and whether we like it out, the one thing that weighs against them is their height and physique.

Regards,
Gopal

How to win ATP title...
by no south on Jan 11, 2009 10:35 PM  | Hide replies

India should organize an ATP tournament in all cities. Then bribe good players either to stay away or throw matches. BCCI's services can be used for that. Then even with useless players India will be able to win an ATP tournament. That is the way forward for India.
