British or no british
by northie on Dec 30, 2009 01:32 PM  | Hide replies

British or no britishers , it is going to be one failed games. Beijing did a superb job for a bigger event. South Africa is excelling in its bid for the soccer world cup and even hosted IPL during their elections when India couldn't. Only India seems to be failing at everything. WHY? WHY I ask you.

North is a geographical area where i come from. Every country has a north, south, east and west. That is just a logical fact. The fact that you identified me as your so called north indian and not indian is what divides this country. Think about it for a moment.

A Tamilian born in the north is a northie. A punjabi born in the south is a southie.

CWG going to be one horrid affair
by amit dixit on Dec 30, 2009 12:49 PM  | Hide replies

Going by the shame already suffered in Firoz Shah Kotla Pitch incident, I think that CWG is going to be another event with rampant mismanagement and rampant lack of accountability. We would be clowns in front of the whole world. Things were better managed in 1982 Asiads, Reliance Cup- 1987 and WC-96. However, in a space of ten odd years, while world has moved on, India has clung to antiquated systems and processes resulting in our reluctance to catch up and thereby poised to be a laughing stock. I am sure WC-11 will also be another staid affair with even SL and Bangladesh going to be better organizers than our people.
Hail Indian Politicians, Bureaucracy and Red-tapism.

Feroz Shah Kotla is not a government failure. BCCI and cricket associations are private entity while asian games, CWG are supposed to be monitored by Governemnt agencies. BCCI cricket is like a marwari shop which only do business of black money to white money through TV Rights, ads, IPL etc.

If the POMES pull out of the Common wealth games the sky is not going to fallout. We should conduct professionally taking all the necessary security precautions and show the world that we can do it better than so called advanced countries.

Why is India even a member of the Commonwealth - did we not 'earn' our 'freedom' long years ago?

Having said that, it is sad that being an Indian I have to still be subject to such veiled threats - but not only are these well based but in a team sport, what can I do when the rest of my team mates are hell bent on not caring for the good of the team first and foremost at the expense of instant self-gratification.
