When was the last time Indian hockey team played against worthy oponents? Dont know how they will match up Aussies and Germans without adequate match practice
Indian hockey is completely finished by Gill politics. This is pretty much the last time India will figure in any international tournament of repute as India is hosting the World Cup.After this, we will never be able to qualify for champions trophy, World Cup or Olympics. Our country is one game madness - cricket and there also only TV ads, cannot even make proper pitch. The corrupt people managing hockey have no vision to promote academies, coaching, nutrition to youngsters so that they become better players in future. Be prepared for one more shameful performance in front of our home crowd.
ind doesnt have star players after dhanraj and co..this is a relatively new team with no star attractions to instill fear in the opposition. each and every pak player is a star in hockey and if they gell as a unit, they are unbeatable.and especially, we dont have a good home record against them as we allow pressure to topple us..lets pray we dont mind about opposition's reputation and give our best..
We won the junior world cup in 1997 just bcoz of rajiv mishra who used to tie a bandana... the way he used to play hockey was stupendous .. he was also named the MVP for the tournament...but after the world cup rajiv mishra name was never heard..lost in the wind... we lost an era of hockey.. then we lost key players thanks to GILL politics... and now we may even lose to chinese for whom 2 yrs bk walkin stick and hockey stick was no different.. hope things turn around with the likes of sandeep singh n co... regainin lost glory is impossible but atleast a glimpse of our dieing asian hockey skills if showcased is more than enuff...

We reached the finals of that world cup 1997 held at Milton Keynes, UK and we lost in that finals. We won it in 2001 when we had gagan, jugraj, prabhjot and company. Rajiv mishra had a knee injury which finished his career. same way jugraj had an accident which finished his career.

Is India sceduled to play any bilateral or triangular series, or any multi-nation tournament in lead-up to the world cup? If no, we can never imagine about winning the world cup.
