It was disgusting to watch that deliberate handball by Henry which was definitely hand to ball but at the spur of the moment, how many players in the world would have put their hand up and said "please disallow the goal"..i mean this is the goal which is going to take them to the World Cup..One instance of real sportsmanship in football was when Robbie Fowler pleaded with the referee not to give a penalty since he had accidently tripped...and thats all i have heard of...

it is referee's mistake and he should be baned for commiting such mistakes in crucial game like this .there are many such incidents like what happened in world cup when dego scored against england there was no punishment. it is the duty of referee to note and punish for such fouls not to penelise the player

It doesn mean player can do whatever they want. Both are responsible.
Player is more imp to have some ethics and spirit of the game.
Referees are humans too and can make mistakes or might not have seen.

Player could have agreed to his mistake, that shows the character of the player.
