Another joker as sports minister
by suresh s on Aug 31, 2009 09:41 PM  | Hide replies

Gill said "our view is clear that we are focussed on promoting sports and that's how it should be". Hey spots minister..Is that because of ur keen promotion of other sports that India fares so fabulously in Olympics, Football world cup, commonwealth games or in any international games? Even chineese rebuked India by saying one gold medal for a billion people? Even that gold is earned by Abhinav Bindra's own effort and money. Your ministry didn't have anything to do with his feast..oh..maybe shooting is also another expensive entertainment for you. We would like to know which are the inexpensive games that you promote? Horse trading of MPs and MLAs? A bunch of political thieves like you are stealing nation's sports aspirations. What do you think? You are doing a great service to the nation ? You people are the curse of India.

Sports ministry will change its opinion if it get free supply of Kingfisher. If the ministry gets its cut of money why should it deny approving it as a sport. Mallaya being a straight forward, non-corrupt, kind hearted and good person the F1 is facing difficulties to get approval from the govt.

Now this reply should get you into good spirits... :)

Fool whatever Cricket is happening in India is organised by BCCI and its not getting help from the government. The govt hasn't stopped or banned anyone from having F1 in India, it just not getting any help from govt is what Mr Gill saying.

All games should be played with zero spectators otherwise it becomes entertainment for spectators and hence the game becomes entertainment and not a sport for others. In that case your stand is justified and you can claim your stand even in supreme court.

If Mallya is so keen on it; spend money from his own pocket n build a racing track.

India has severe drought this year; such huge public funds should not be spent for this arrogant n snobish billionares ayyashi

Force India , huh ??
by Ashish Ramachandran on Aug 31, 2009 08:05 PM  | Hide replies

Force India ?? there's nothing Indian about it, except for its owner, Mallyaji !!!
I don't understand why are we shouting from the rooftops when the guy who won the points, is from Italy. Except for the name, there is no Indianness about this achievement. Maybe if Karthikeyen was driving, it would have been historic win. Just because Mallya is pumping in his Indian rupees does not make this a Indian victory. Grow up people.

would you complaing about US and Europeans outsourcing jobs to Indians??? What Vijay m has done for Force India is similar to what US and Europeans do. When you do have experts in your country, you have to search somewhere else. don't be dumb!!!

Bring a report on young politician's view on this matter
by Pravas Sahoo on Aug 31, 2009 07:26 PM

I think many politicians need to attend management classes at IIM's about leadership. Every sport is an entertainment and has emotions attached whether it be F1 or cricket. And if there are no sporting skills, then Luca Badoer wouldn't have finished last and Kimi first when they both drive the same car. Even Luca's fastest lap was 2 secs slower than Kimi.
Seriously, despite encouragement and support from bussiness houses India still is underdeveloped in sports because of such comments.

Formula 1 is the pinnacle of Motorsports
by Vipin K on Aug 31, 2009 07:25 PM

With all respects to the sports minister, Sir I have to disagree with you.
Am not a fan of Mallya, but yes I am a fan of Formula 1. Its my second favorite sports after cricket.
If the word Motorsports has any meaning to you, please understand Formula 1 is the pinnacle of it. Formula 1 is one of the most expensive and sophisticated sports in the world.
Which sports doesn't need technological support These days while competing in world level? Can all the batsmen hit the ball out of the ground with the bats we use in gully cricket?
this link is about shoib akthar's shoes in rediff itself
http://www.rediff.com/cricket/2006/jan/18boots.htm
It costs around 1.5 Lakhs it is specially made for him and according to his needs to boost is performance. It also doesn't mean you and me can bowl like him if we wear such shoes.

Just like that F1 being the sport where all the best of technologies compete synchronized together. Just like the name suggests Formula1. It also needs all the best of the technologies available to keep your car competitive.
But is also doesn't mean just having the best car will buy you the race. If its you or me driving those supreme machines not just that its gonna win the race. It will just crash in the first corner.
Its the same when you drive through a brick wall while you apply the brakes in an F1 car.
It will accelerate almost like a fighter jet aircraft. so you need the best drivers in the world to control them.

This has been our problem from years. If somebody wants to do anything good. All these politicians starts opposing it. I dont know why we have such mentality. These politicians have never done anything for this country forget about sports. And this guy gill is completely useless always involved in useless issues and will do nothing for sports.

Try to understand the issue in detail. Gill does not prohibit F1 racing in India. He simply says that it will not be under the auspices of the Sports Ministry. He is 100% correct.

As to 'doing something good', they also want to take out $36.5 Million which is precious foreign exchange, earned by many Indians after their hard work in exports. Why should we agree to such a huge remittance? If JPSK wants, let them arrange funds out of India itself, and not remit them from within India.
