End of a Motor Sport Legacy
by venkat v on Aug 02, 2009 03:23 PM  | Hide replies

Chennai has been hosting races for over 30 years and the fact that Delhi was chosen ahead of Chennai will end the legacy of bringing great drivers out of the city. It is unfair to say the least.. why is it that in India, all the major sports events have to go to Delhi? What sort of legacy does delhi have in F1?

dude go and check out Delhi infrastructure & space available.. u r spot on saying that Chennai has the legacy, but to me only logical explanation Vijaya Mallya lobbied for Delhi must be infra & who knows they might be planning it in winter, when Delhi climate becomes much better!

They must hold F1 in India
by patriot on Aug 02, 2009 02:07 PM

no, i think they should hold it in india. it will give those slumdog children something to aspire to. Not being a driver but be inspired by the technology and aspire to be engineers who build cars and roads that can make people faster than indian cars and roads now. Think of all the slumdogs.

Bangalore Weather ideal for F1 Race
by BrahminSCST on Aug 02, 2009 01:04 PM  | Hide replies

Through out the year, Bangalore Weather is like Winter. Hamilton is not aware of Bangalore's Weather. Even during Peak summer, the Temperature in Bangalore does not cross 35 Deg C. Bangalore-India's Semi Europe. F1 Race can be staged any time during the year.

35 deg is winter...ha ha.. In wetern countries winter means _ to 10 deg. anything more 15-20 is warm and 20 is summer. For F1 a country has to build a city to make this happen. There are atleast 1623 aspects to be confirmed before laying F1 track. And bangalore fails in atleast 1620.

So...this can never happen in chennai as there is no "Winter season" in chennai. Is there any sport that can only be played in 40 deg temperature?

Idea to increase F1 profit
by Michael on Aug 02, 2009 10:54 AM  | Hide replies

The best way for the f1 to make profits is to introduce the concept of allowing one tourist for every f1 car.

Just like co-pilots in fighter planes, the tourist seat can be made behind the f1 driver seat. Definetly tourist will be ready to pay even a million $ to get the seat.

Where else to catch the racing action than from the co-drivers seat.

Do you understand the amount of physical fitness it needs to go through 70 laps at a speed of 250-300 Kmph ? Do you know the average hearbeat rate for an F1 driver throughout the course of a race ? Its 150 plus . The new carbon brakes apply a retardation of around 4g when a driver applies a brake. How many people on earth can sustain that ? Also consider the high cockpit temperatures and remember that an average driver sweats off 3 Kgs in the course of an F1 race. For an average person, sitting in an F1 car throughout a race would be equivalent to sitting in a roller coaster for 90 mins !!!!! Absolutely stupid idea unless you want to commit suicide.

You muppet. The whole concept is to lighten the weight of F1 car to speed up things. If a rich tourist with his fat belly will sit with Hamilton than he will finish last driving at a speed of Maruti-800

the tourist will not keep quiet. The moment he is in he will open his Lays chips packet, eat and will also offer the driver. Do you really think it will look like a race. Only Lays.

Hamilton hopes they hold the grand prix in the winter. What he hope is correct. F1 cannot race on roads with bilstering tempearatures of 40 C. By the time the race is over the drivers would have lost lots of fluids and some could even faint.
