At the end of the day one should realise that she is doing this as her profession, not to please you or me. Therefore, in terms of profession, what matters is how much you are earning. And in that area, she is doing pretty well this year. As of last week, she is 27th in the world in terms of prize money won this year (ie 3 months). And the amount in rupee equivalent terms is around Rs. 70 lakhs.
Yes her tournament results in singles are disappointing since she has lost regularly in 1st / 2nd rounds. But she has done well in Doubles and Mixed Doubles, and done enough in singles in terms of the tournaments played and matches won to earn that much overall.
Mind you this amount of Rs. 70 lakhs is purely tennis prize money, not advertising / endorsements.
Therefore, I for one really appreciate her for that feat. Notwithstanding her defeats, the fact is that in commercial terms (and we would be lying if we did not agree that bottom-line that is what matters most) she is extremely successful, not just as an Indian non-cricket sportsperson, but also as an Indian in general because I don't imagine there are many Indians around the world, man or woman, earning more that Rs. 70 lakh per quarter.....
So keep it up Sania, you are still a heroine for many of us....

Its not Rediff's fault if Sania loses. Rediff is just publishing the sports news. What is wrong in that? If you don't like then don't read. Since you know Sania's going to lose then why bother reading it.
