It is Federer's reply to those who think he can lose only to Nadal and Murray.
Well done Roger.

Today tennis is so competitive, one can loose to anyone. Tsonga, Simon, Del Potro, Roddick, Nalbandaian,..all can win against the top 4 on their day.

And Nadal too replied very positively, he is showing improvement in that sense.
He can lose not to great but to new players too.

So, it was the wind this time.
It seems the wind was blowing only on his side of the court.
I saw the match though. I cannot remember a more boring match. Standard of Tennis was nowhere suggestive of the level of players involved.
Only, Federer played worse.

well this is very funny
number 1 both players were equally affected by wind
and if u say the wind was attacking only federer get ur geographical facts right
number 2 i firmly believe that federer should not be recieving the sportmanship award this year.showing sportsmanship when u r winning is easy.the true test comes when federer is losing and he has failed that test
number 3 why did not the chair umpire give him a code violation when he smashed his racquet
number 4 federer did not shake hands with the umpire? where was that sportsmanship gone?in the air?

by rocker on Apr 04, 2009 10:16 AM  | Hide replies

I am searching for all those ppl who commented on Nadal that he is not a true sportsman(like fed) coz he did not give credit to the opponent and blamed himself for the loss... Pls show up :P

And I dont want replies from the fed fans trying to defend him.... I know everyone is mortal and respect federer as a player and a champion for wat he achieved and support fed unless he is against nadal ( ;) )... but i m looking for the Nadal bashers.... where areeee uuuu :P

But thats true...I watched Nadal's interview..he clearly said that his loss was more because of his poor show rather than Potro's play. Sad really.

Ya being such a classic player and also No-1 in the world for a very long time its really saddening to see Fedex in such a bad state. No one can always be No-1 for ever, otherwise tennis will lose its sheen.
As for new players i feel others should also be given a chance to feel wat it is to be No-1 in the world.

what do u mean by others should be given a chance to feel no.1 spot ? No.1 positions are always open, one has to win and regularly against the top players to go to the top. No one is stopping anyone in the race. It depends on self performance

by sumith roul on Apr 04, 2009 10:06 AM

C'mon guys and give him a break. He is human like all of us and has emotions.I have seen many of his matches and noticed he has the capacity to keep cool in all circumstances.Once in a while he does lose his patience.I like Marat Safin also, but this guy does not keep his temper in check and blames the whole world for his loss.I think Safin should learn and thing or two from guys like Federer,I hope to see him next year.

Toughtimes for Fedex!
by shiva on Apr 04, 2009 07:34 AM  | Hide replies

Roger is after all human! But not all! The Swedes were the sweetest & followed Keats to the word - maintain equanimity in victory & defeat & treat both the imposters the same!

Borg bowed out when the brash & rash Americans, Connors & McEnroe gate-crashed. They were the opposite of him. Then Gilbert even wrote a book, Winning Ugly!

Wilander was also cool as a cucumber! He won all except Wimbledon!

Edberg was ditto! His exploits especially against Becker at Wimbledon was a sight! He was almost apolegetic for winning!

Now, we have also the brash Roddyck. A rough exterior but decent reactions after losing! Anyway, he has got used to losing now, but still a vibrant force!

We are also human. We have our preferences! Comeon, most are with Roger but some thought he was faking it! When the losses mount, he gets irritated. By no stretch of imagination is he a Connors or McEnroe! But my heart still went for the latter when he was duped by a friend recently of $2 million for fake art deals!

Roger is still a class act! But the pretendors are a menace now. He certainly does not want his child realising that he is not only not a winner but ends up as a sore loser!

For most of us, we can take it on the chin! We lose more & the wins are just not there! Sigh! So, in a way let us welcome Roger also into our fold, The Losers Club! The more the merrier! We can enrol him in the Hall of Fame, hopefully not Shame!

Think of Roger at his best!Still more to come!

We have politicians who create regional and religious hatred, politicians who oppose projects like Tata Nano for political gains.

We can change our political system by voting for the right person and persuading/educating people around you to vote for the right person.

Loksatta led by Jayaprakash Narayan(Former IAS)is the only party which said it will not use
1) Money
2) Liquor
3) Religious hatred
4) Regional hatred to win in elections.

It is the only party which said it will not go for strikes to protest against government polocies but will protest in a democratic way.

For a country like India which has a 14% power deficiency importing nuclear technology for power generation is very important. Loksatta is the only party which was not part of the UPA (ruling coilation) which supported the Nuclear deal and urged other parties to support the deal which is very essential for our country.

When govt increased fuel prices because of the increased prices in gulf countries all oppositon parties did unfruitful works like using bullock carts to goto assembly. But loksatta is the only party which said we should reduce our dependency on oil (petrol) we should start using unconventional resources and fuel efficient technologies.

It is the only party which talks about providing good education and health facilities, infrastructure.

Let us all contribute by voting for the right person and campaign for parties like Loksatta which have great principles

uhhhhh, mallik sadi, dude, I have no issues with what you said, but don't you think you are, sort of, in the wrong post?? We'r talking international tennis here n you'r talking Indian politics! Got no gripes with you, though. I totally agree. As for "Fedex", I agree with a lot of people here. He's human, and like the rest of us, he's not perfect. Cut the guy some slack, dudes. And keep da gud times rollin' ;)

Of late, it has become rather routine in ATP matches, whenever Roger and/or Rafa lose, the other invariably follows.
