Now, even Nadal cannot win every single point, and every single match.
Like all human beings, he is entitled to an odd bad day.
This loss proves nothing, except that it was a bad day for Nadal.

Whine??? Dude (or dudette... whatever!), first refer your dictionary and then get back to the forum!! And yeah, you also need to know the meaning of another word.. "Retrospection". And the DIFFERENCE between the two!

What Rafa said was in retrospection and he was simply accepting his flaws in this particualar match ... NOT Whining!!!

After reading the headlines in the home page i thougt this is the most shocking news and should be read first. After a long time i hav heard rafa lossing a match nd i dont even remember when i heard it for the last time. But its good 2 see tht somebody has defeated him and tennis is getting more competitive, atleast federer will be happy and now could believe tht rafa can also be defeated in his current form after having those nightmares thinking abt rafa.

Nadal should have given credited to Del Potro... Instead he blamed his failure...

Nadal knew he had played badly.
He made too many unforced errors. Its not as if Del Potro played a superb game.

weak spot...
by viswa raveen on Apr 03, 2009 11:12 AM  | Hide replies

If there are tennis palyers here they will understand what is going on in these Andy- Nadal-Fedex games. The high looped back hand balls are difficult to play for ordinary mortals. It is the achiles tendon even fo these top players. Andy goes for these shots everytime. It is easy to do so with a double fisted backhand, with a good clearance over the net. Both Fedex and Nadal do not employ this ploy against their opponents. By being No 1 and 2, they do not think thaey ned to paly this defensive game. They go for winners, with low margin over the net after a few routine exchanges. Their % is , unfortunately , low. These are the shots currently troubling both Nadal and Fedex. Del Potro deployed this against Nadal quite successfully. Andy is a master in this approach. Roger and Nadal need to come out with a strategy to counter this. Else they are in trouble from the Andys and Dels. The man who started this shot as a powerful weapon was Agassi.

viswa what you are stating is right, but when you say only murray is employing against other and not nadal thats wrong, Nadal was the one who brough this high bouncing top spin shots and since he is a lefty he used it very well against fedex...if you have seen all the matches between these 2 guys..nadal startergy is simple from his forhand he uses his top spin loopy bouncing shots to fedex backhand which is a single hander and becomes more Vulnerable for this shot.. so he has poor record against nadal..and same negative ploy is now used by murray and other rising stars like potros etc which is making the game of tennins boring and defensive...i guess fedex is the last great true champion of many like sampras, edberg, borg, lendle, mcenroe, rod laver, becker who played attacking and the real game of tennis... future playeres now are just copying this trick and tennis is loosing its sheen...

i agree in toto. Nadal is getting back his medicine. I thought now a days Nadal uses more of back hand slices to the backhand of his opponents including Roger. He uses less of the looping balls. Don't know why. You know one cannot hit a winner when a low bounce slice reaches your backhand. All you can do is to slice the return back defensively. These tricks are indeed louzy to watch. Only a great player like Roger who has atleast a choice of three winning shots for each ball that lands at him can give a fitting reply to these gamesman like tactics.

I call these brilliant tactics, the two of you call them tricks :-) Is there anything illegal about exploiting yout opponents weaknesses to the core ???
