mistake for Pune
by vipul saxena on Sep 11, 2008 02:10 AM

The infrastructure for sports/roads in Pune is pathetic. It was a mistake to organise commonwealth youth games in pune. But Infrastructure in delhi is million times better than Pune. All the best Delhi 2010.

Shame on you, Kalmadi
by kalyan chatrathi on Sep 10, 2008 05:25 PM

I am surprised that unprofessional and unethical Suresh Kalmadi can remain the IOA President.

On the day Abhinav Bindra won the gold medal for India, I was tuned to AIR FM and here was Suresh Kalmadi who had the guts to attribute the gold medal of Bindra to THE ENCOURAGEMENT THAT SONIA GANDHI GAVE TO THE ATHLETES BY WAVING FROM THE OFFICAL BOX DURING OPENING CEREMONY.

Shame on you, Mr. Kalmadi for brining politics and your tendency of being Sonia Gandhi's puppy. Did Sonia Gandhi throw a dog-bone after you made that comment? Did that make you happy?

If there was an atom of decency in Suresh Kalmadi, he should just resign from IOA presidency. But since he has got none, he will continue unashamed of any of his actions. A MORAL-LESS AND UNETHICAL POLITICIAN, he will remain eternally

Its impossible to commute and many many accidents have happened because of this work.

The best infrastructure we can have for CWG is to see people like Kalmadi are given the boot. it is high time we hand over the administration to old Athletes like Milkha singh and others

Kalmadi has completed messed up Pune CYG!
by Ganesh Johnson on Sep 10, 2008 03:01 PM  | Hide replies

Mr. Kalmadi is probably the most *shameless* politician that ever walked the face of the earth. I don't understand what face he has to say that the CWG infrastructure will be ready on time, when a comparitively minor effort - the Pune Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) slated for next month, has been a complete fiasco already, as far as Pune infrastructure is concerned.

All roads leading to the venues are in extremely pathetic shape, in fact worse shape than they were before Kalmadi started mucking up. Bang opposite the venue, an incomplete subway is a complete eye sore.

After pulling the wool over everyone's eyes, Kalmadi finally conceded last week, that the road infra in Pune will be in no shape before the games begin, and they will try to apply patchwork. People staying on the main approach road (called Baner road) have found their life go from a peaceful idyllic existence to a living nightmare. A road contractor actually told me that "he himself is not sure" what is to be done on that road, all that they do is dig up the road, damage cables & water supply and just leave. The entire road is a complete mess, much worse than when they started to 'improve' it for the Games.

Nearly 800 Crore Rs. of taxpayer money have been squandered away, and most of that actually pocketed by Kalmadi and cronies, i am sure.

Is this the person we want to entrust the Commonwealth Youth Games too?

I fully agree with you. Each and every infrastructure project in Pune is just a money making machine for politicians PMC. No one is intrested in it completion or quality. Tooooooo much curruption.

I stay along the Baner road - Pune; that leads to the stadium for CYG next month.
The road condition is miserable - actually far more worse than what it had been before the roadwork started. The work is going at pathetic pace since the last 6 months and no one is sure on the completion. Infra is in total doldrums.
A shame that our hard earned tax money being is pocketed by our "neta" and associates.
You may well guess the "good times" coming ahead for the delhi people for CWG.

Somebody told me that in the days when Kalmadi was the president of Youth congress, he garlanded Rajiv Gandhi on one of his domestic visits with a wreath. I am not sure, but i just wanted to confirm
