djokovic..
by narmada thampan on Sep 06, 2008 12:11 PM

Everyone knws tht nole uses “over exaggerated” injuries to change the tempo of a match in his favor. Unfortunately, he’s not the only one to use this tactic. So, Andy called him on it and of course, “the truth hurts.” Thn nole did the right thing in not playing drama king the other night. He played a great match and beat Andy fair and square….unfortunately, he didn’t leave it on the court, letting his victory b the period at the end of the story. He took it out on the fans. Not cool. u don’t take it out on the fans no matter how partisan they are. Being for Roddick on his home court is not something the fans should have been ridiculed for. Cheering for your guy is part of it. Just like Henman at Wimbledon or Hewitt down under.
Further, how many times have we heard this fortnight about Djovkovic’s Dad going to the radio station in Serbia and jumping the Serbian Radio guys for not being partisan enough?
Djoker walks out of this with a black eye in my opinion. Players like roger n rafa r class-acts–I would be shocked if we EVER saw behavior like Novak’s or Andy’s coming from these two guys. Anyways I look forward to seeing what happens this weekend..

When you poke fun at some one you have a tiger in your hands to face. Joko should not forget this lesson. I heard Andy and definitely he can justify what he said as in the spirit of jest to some one who poked fun at him.Andy could not pass this chance and I dont blame him.

Djokovic....

"I figure if you're going to joke and imitate other people and do the whole deal, then you should take it," Roddick said.

Ha Ha, Roddick hit the nail on its head... If the Nole doesn't like being made fun of (by Roddick), he should also not make fun of others (Maria & Rafa); as he did last year.

This guy is simply not in the league of Rafa n Roger, even though he's ranked 3 in the world. The arrogance that he expresses on-court and off it, is the main reason for this...

Sopt on dude. Nole got the laughs for imitating others. Did he care how it would hurt them? He is not even their friend and took liberties with them just because it got him laughs and he became dear to public. Now he should take what is coming to him.

Say what you want but djokovic has a need to be liked. he wants to always be the fan favorite, when that doesn’t happen, he gets upset! if he’s not careful, he going to dig his own grave with fans. he is blemishing his reputation. his on-court comments were unnecessary, he has yet to learn that if he wants to one day achieve the #1 status and represent that status with class, he has to start by thinking before speaking! there’s nothing wrong with a dash of positive humor, but he like to prove his point by mouthing off. it makes sense to prove the point with your racquet, shake hands, smile and move on. after all, winning is the sweetest revenge! nadal does it all the time, he silences his opponents with his racquet. why do you think he is so popular? not only is he incredibly talented and humble, he is a smart thinker. he knows what to say, his words are always few, but very positive. he doesn’t allow himself to get caught up in a war of words! he’s amazingly wise for his age! djokovic sure could read a page or two from nadal’s book!

i agree. he started off the spark when he "enacted" Sharapova shrieks in a slam. On the other hand Rafa and Fedex steer clear of such antics and no wonder, are hot favs.
djokovic is new kid on the block and nerves are showing!!

How do you know Djokovic has a need to be liked?? Don't make some smart a-s-s comments here just to show yourself as some sagacious individual....

There are some people who are loud and brash and achive success in life, there are others who let their actions speak louder than words......who are we to sit in judgement as to what is right and what is wrong?? Each man to his own!!

John McEnroe was a brat and a hated one at that...but he was still a champion and modesty was not part of his personality...Federer on the other hand, is modest and unassuming and carreis himself well.....

So, you should do what works best for you....suffice to say, if Djokovic tries to be modest, the pretence will show thru...he comes across as a natural brat...let him be!!!! Players like Djokovic make watching more interesting!!

Nole needs to grow up a bit.The booing of him after the match was punk... Not many have the mature, cool, classy demeanor of rafa and federer …and he didn’t always have that in his younger years....
thats it

Are u crazy? Of course he can do anything which will not distract others & the spirit of game. That simply means there were unwritten rulles on how to behave in Public. What mcenroe done was also bad.You cannot immitate bad habits of a good player & also cannot jump to a conclusion that their game is due to their idiotic behaviour.when something is wrong it is wrong!!

Are gyani, bakwaas band kar...

He might hold the no.3 spot in atp rankings, he might as well reach the top one day; but with this kind of attitude, he will never get the admiration and honour that Rafa and FedEx get.

Djokovic has a need to be liked & he wants to be the fan favorite -- Yes, narmada's point is vindicated i.e. if you saw him playing today (urging & mocking at the crowd to support him when he lost a point in 4th set..). Also, in Aus Open, after he defeated FedEx, he was still complaining that the crowd was supporting Roger and that he wanted the crowd to support him - ...Djokovic is hoping for a little more support against Tsonga.

"Today it was quite difficult for me," he said. "It's understandable crowd was a little bit more for him, because he's defending champion and No.1 player of the world. But hopefully it's going to be better in the next match. That's what I hope for."

Samjha kya re mamu ??? koi baat nahi re yaar, dhakkan logo ko jaldi samajh me nahin aata hai
