For Federer bashers........
by Anurag Rathore on Sep 03, 2008 10:26 AM  | Hide replies

It's first time in last 4 years when Federer is not number 1 in ranking. But don't reach any conclusion. It's too early(Only based on this year performance).
I give you some example. One time A.Aggasi had reached out of 100 in ranking. But he came back strongly after his two bad years in career. Same thing happened to V.Williams.
Thats why I am so confident Federer will come back. Give him some more time to regain his confidence back. This is all about confidence. When he will win any major tournament again, he will again prove that he is still the best in the world.
Despite of worst phase of his career he reached in Semifinal of Australia open and Final of Wimbledon and French Open.
I am 100 percent sure he will come back with a bang.
He is still best in the world.

very true... leave all those examples aside... jus think. ppl say federer is having his worst season.. he made it to semis at australia. finals at hamburg rome(or monte carlo) won halle finals at wimbledon, here made it quarters (mostly he will make it to semis/finals).... this is extraordinary... in 2006 and 07 this record betters that of all the top 5 players... ppl would kill to have a year like what federer is having this year... by his own standards he is having a pathetic year... only rafa stands tall and djok has managed better than federer... there is nothing u can take away from federer.... nadal will have lapses in his career, as does anyone.... and not even the best nadal fanatic would in his wildest dreams believe that nadal can be no 1 for 2 years.... chance is as close to spotting a vibgyor coloured scorpion...

Nadal has already reaching QF, equalling his performance last year. It is Federer who has to atleast win this year to maintain the gap with Nadal. It would be more likely if Djokovic wins, our Mr. Federer will be down to no: 3

You prediction is always wrong. You predict the whitewash of India in ODI series against SriLanka. What happened?

Wait and watch some time. Federer is still best.

ATP ranking can be change after some time. Don't go on records, use some logic. Did you see the Wimbledon final this year. Federer made some big mistakes in crucial stages. It was luck of Nadal.
I want to see how much time he will remain at no.1

How can tou say that only basis of 1 year performance.
Federer has hold the number 1 position from 4 years in presence of Nadal. Can Nadal hold the number 1 position 3-4 years in presence of Federer?

He should now focus on retaining no. 2 position, without quite bothering about regaining the no. 1 slot.
If he can break Nadal's record of the longest stint at no. 2, it will be some achievement.
Right now, there is a big gap between no. 1 and no. 2, which Federer looks totally incapable of closing.

AK Singh : I think Nadal is already gruntin hard on the faster courts. If they make wimbeldon grass a bit faster I won't be surprised if Nadal loses wimbeldon next year.

Nadal may lose in Wimbledon next year, but anyone who wouldn't be surprised then, should get his/her mental balance checked.

Rafael is a great competitor, no doubt; but when his supports starts to diminish Federer by saying things like "...They say Roger is the best-ever, except there's one player he can't beat.." I just simply respond... when Rafael is on the cusp of 14 grand slams, and hangs onto that #1 ranking for nearly 5 years, then, and only then, do those disrespectful words against Roger have any meaning what-so-ever....

the depth in tennis has been almost the same... only that federer is not playing his magical tennis.... so everybody has sensed a chance... see roddick play this us open... so far i havent seen anyone play such high quality tennis for even one complete year... nadal faltered at aussie open... managed to scramble through wimbledon... he will fall to fish... if not fish then it will be andy murray... if not murray he will fall to the eventual champion... i guess he wont have the no 1 tag even for a year... anyone can beat federer.... but not in grandslams... yeah when federer is not playing his best the remaining do beat him.. only in the finals or the semis... not before... wpuld be magical if federer wins.... for the sake of rafa, i hope he doesnt... :) and look at nadal djok murray etc.. they are all already tired... federer in 2007 won aus, wimbledon and the entire US open SEASON... nobody can keep that kind of performance for even 12 months.... not even nadal.. he will fall... u will see...

Why should you boys become so emotional about Federer? Being sentimental about worldly matters is a quality attibuted generall to immature girls!
Well, right now, I can give you a very well known piece of statistic. Federer has been beaten this year by 9 players.
I am not making any predictions like you. I wish Federer and you, well.

I agree that Federer is a great champion....his game cannot be equalled...his grace and poise are a sight to watch!!!
But wouldn't sport be boring if the best player always won!! Man, what a welcome break to see Federer not winning grandslams....wow...he may go on and beat Sampras' record but atleast he's not as dominating as before....thanks to a guy from Mallorca...

Another interseting point for Federer fans to mull over.....How can a player be the greatest No 1 ever when he has not consecutively beaten his No. 2...got what I'm saying....Federer has a bad one on one record with Nadal...he needs to correct that b4 retiring.

This shows the depth of men’s tennis. Nadal was taken to 4 sets with a qualifier... Djokovic was taken to 5. This is the fun of tennis - anything could happen..anyways great to see Roger win..I hope he can step it up from here on...gud luck fedex
