Diego Maradona your invinsible !!!
by francis fernandis on Oct 31, 2008 12:33 PM

Since I was small I used to awake up, and the first glimpse would be a huge seven feet tall picture of Maradonna, dozing 6 yellow brazillians.

It would be really great to see Argentina in the world cup coaching under Maradonna.

Diego Armando Maradonaaaa
by thomas on Oct 31, 2008 11:46 AM  | Hide replies

I follow many sports, but till date havent come across any sportsman who is termed God in his sport but one.Diego Armando Maradona.I am lucky that I have born in an era where I could see few of the greatest sportmen ever-Sunil Gavaskar,Diego Maradona,Sachin Tendulkar.Maradona, an international favorite, is not seen by present generation-genration who gets excited to see EPL-generation who are not passionate about sports or soccer. If they were they would have tried to go into the history of the game and see its greats-Maradona,Cruff,Pele,Moore,Charlton,Bekenbaur,Garincha,Usebeo etc etc.I have seen clips of all the greats and followed it to present generation.Over the years, I have seen soccer players lack the skills-Ball control,passing,dribbling-that which excites a soccer fan most.Of all the greats of the game, I see Maradona unparralled. He might not be best in all the qualities-but he is the best in ball control, speed with the ball and dribbling.I urge the EPL generation to get some videos of Maradona and get a feel of the real genius. He is the only player who who try to jump off the feet of defenders, who try to pull him down( by commiting foul, the last resort of defence). He would escape those fouls by taking the ball up jumping along with him-No one did this ever.He was man marked in 1986 finals by 3 to 4 German players-out of which Lauther Mathius -the 1990 WC captain was one-He has played with very ordinary teams to bring the World Cup and victories in European Club..

(contd)...tournaments(with napoli, a very inferior team)-These are unthinkable achievements in any team sport-to carry on a 11 side team single handedly. In Argentina team of 1986 or 1990, there were no star player, except him.Nor during his time with Napoli, except for Brazilian Careca for few years. He has given millions of soccer passionate people the joy which no other sportsman could ever give.He is the reason for so many Argentine fans across the world. He is not just the greatest in any sport(even cocaine attachment failed to belittle him, ofcourse cocaine has nothing to do with soccer skills). He is the god of soccer.Diego Armando Maradonaaaaaaa.

Thomas .. Awesome write-up. You brought all those nostalgic moments of genius in front of my eyes now. There isn't anyone with half the skill of a Maradona in today's game sadly. Just seeing him play would bring tears of joy. All the EPL generations, try to look up something on youtube regarding Maradona to see what you have missed.

Maradona the Great
by Michael Dsa on Oct 30, 2008 06:53 PM  | Hide replies

I am 38 yrs - I did not see Pele Play, hence cannot say much about him. But yes, till date I haven't seen any football player as good as Maradona. IN SHORT HE WAS MAGICAL with the ball !!! These type of players can be seen only once in a life time. Maybe the next generation would see a new hero, but then - they would have not seen Maradona play in their lifetime, the way we did not see Pele.

Maradona is just the right choice in the right time as well with Messi and co... who needs experienced losers over someone who was born for football...Diego has his chance now. Let's see what happens, hopefully many mouths will be silenced, and Maradona could prove his eternal critics, haters, and doubters absolutely wrong, again. Good luck..

sorry my friend..Argentina are like bullies. They beat a weak serbia 6-0 in 2006, and in QF they scored 1 goal, and tried to play defenively. Their last world cup win was 1986, i.e 22 years back!!!

Dude... do you even know what the Serb team was (before disrespecting them). Also, I doubt if you watched the ARG Vs. GER QF. Defensive?? They were leading 1-0. What do you do when ur playing a game worthy of a final and leading 1-0? Thank God you're not the coach of any of these teams. If you don't follow Argentine football, don't comment on it. Just comment on the team you follow.

Napoli isnt what it was now, but back in the maradona days it was a great team...
ofcourse no argument that maradona was a great player, but that doesnt make him a great coach
