Federrer - Lazy?
by Mukesh Kumar on Oct 24, 2008 11:18 AM  | Hide replies

Laziness has just become his habit, the nature. Earlier he used to be lazy as well but again he was able to lift his game when required. Now, other players have upped their game and giving it all, they are not afraid of Federrer or anyone. So psychologically, the game has changed, the competitors have changed. And, Fed has changed as well, laziness has become his nature, I Don't care attitude is there...he is not able to overcome. He remains supremely confident that what ever it may come, he will win at the end. And, that's where now he falters and it has become more of a routine then once in a blue moon.

We will see more defeats later on. Once he gets defeated in couple of other slams, its over. Not sure, whether there is same burning desire to win every match or its because of the age.

I wouldn't call it laziness. May be there is no motivation left in the man for the small ATP tournaments. Maybe it is only the Slams that mean anything to him any more.

what a statement

if that is tru, Mr Puneet, that can mean only one thing - that he has given up hopes of becoming no 1 again - because one has to win the smaller ones too to maintain the rankings

This can happen if only FedEx plays to go past Pete, and has given up hope to go past Rafa

no need to become no.1 again.... what matters most is winning more grandslams .... eventually he had stayed for enough period at no.1 so it should be more grandslams instead of no.1

I wouldn't say he's lazy. He had a very bad day yesterday and his opponent was playing out of his skin. In spite of all this, Federer got through without losing a set. You also have to remember that Federer is not completely fit. I'm not saying he's sick now but because of his illness at the start of the year he lost out on all the training he did.
only next year we can tell for sure how he's playing.
Btw Federer made it clear that it is one of his goals for the next year to get back his number 1 ranking.
