the problem with englands football is very much similar to its cricket, though the footballers earn many times more than the cricketers, reason for down fall seem to be induction of foreign players into the league, though the popularity of the epl is much more than any other league in the world, english players are far and few, earlier the football academies were churning out english lads who were good player, now the lure of money has got foreign players, in absence of any regulation on restriction of foreign players clubs opt for ready made stuff than grooming players. majority of clubs are being bought by foreigners and with newcastle also on the block, the local flavour is gone.
still at least my personal choice is viewing the epl every weekend and it is indeed a treat to watch. i feel the restrictions by fa will be in very shortly and we hope england has a very good squad with an english coach rather than a foreign one.

phamitus, from where are the players for england team slected from, it is from the league, so my friend the problem is not many english players in the starting line ups, if um talk about any national side they are picked from the local tounaments, since eglish players are lacking the exposure the team is not doing well, if u cannot understand this thing pls donot comment. i hv gvn my point of view u are free to disagree but dont show yr lack of knowldge and gv silly comments

I think EPL is great. But there is a yawning gap between teams from EPL and the 1st League. Almost every single team that gets promoted in the EPL finds it impossible to stay for more than 2 years max in the EPL... 2-3 seasons ago all the promoted teams ended up being demoted for the next season. This mainly means that clubs that are other than the EPL arent very good or simply inefficeint. England has some very very good players but they seem to think of winning the world cup even before they have qualified. Its just the expectation are unjustifed by the british press.. I agree with the Ferdinands comments on the WAGS issues... i mean we hear more about Victoria Beckham and Mrs Rooney than the players themselves.. even here in india...
