Shooting as sport in India
by Manoj Dev on Oct 14, 2008 07:46 PM

It is heartening to see Indian shooters doing well in the international arena. Congratulations to the team of India in CYG.

Indian physique as well as psyche are perhaps better suited for games like shooting and archery, experts can tell better. May be we should identify the sports which are better suited for us and focus on them more. There is nothing like winning in intenational meets for raising a nation'sself esteem.

Shooting is a expensive sport since guns as well as ammnitions are to be imported. It is very much possible to manufacture good quality sports weapons / ammos at economic prices in India. In fact air rifles/guns are available from small manufacturers at reasonable prices, though they mostly lack quality. Shooting ranges are also very few.

Wish there would be promoters of this sport to reach out at mass level.
