well we(india) have never had a player in male or female tennis who has broken the top 10 in the world or reach a semi of a slam or win a tier 1 or above title i know ramanathan krishnan was no 3 in unofficial rankings and reached the semis of wimbledon but both those feats were in the amateur era when tennis was completely dominated by a golden crop of aussies(laver,rosewall,hoad,fraser,emerson,anderson,sedgman,newcombe,roache,mcgregor,rose,cooper,stolle,bowrey,etc. - all of whom won grand slams) and all of them turned pros and were banned from all grand slams untill the open era, even in the open era, contracted pros like laver, rosewall, newcombe, stolle, roache, etc. were banned from several slams coz of legal issues

But it must be remembered that Ramanathan Krishnan played tennis at an age where there was no money to afford travel tickets and no professional coaches and had to match physical fitness of foreigners even though there were very few gyms in India. He was a real pioneer who deserves our respect.

true coz australia have a population 1/6oth of india but a sporting infrastructure that is a real dream and so out of reach for india
This is a gr8 news...I have alwaz been a fan of paes....bt it shud have been much proud moment if paes n bhupathi together can revive d magic again..!! But really hats off 2 paes... n sania...nw i dnt evn count her as a tennis player..so no use of writing anythin abt her...!!
