Call to save Indian sports!
by sandeep kumar on Nov 03, 2008 10:21 AM  | Hide replies

Everyone seems to be debating about liverpool and manchester and chelsea etc, when they dont make 1% of difference to Indians. How many people can name atleast 5 names from Indian football team..? Thats the reason they struggle for fame and support. Also Saina won badminton, kumble-greatest cricketer of India, retired. Lots of things happening in Indian sport, and people ignore it and go for "class" things like NBA,F1,EPL etc. Please i request rediff, to give minimal coverage, and more improtance to NFL, and Indian cricket.

I can say chelsea is playing good entertaining football , no doubt they will winners but they need to win lot of tuff match if they have to win this year EPL. Man United will give them a tuff fight also liverpool i think so. But liverpool are not consistent.

Mr. Anti-global,
What's your problem with international football news? Are you upset because Rediff isn't covering enough kabaddi and kho kho news?

Chelsea rocks
by True Indian on Nov 02, 2008 01:16 PM  | Hide replies

This year it's gonna be Chelsea all the way.

Loss to Liverpool last week should be read as a flash in the pan.

With both Liverpool and Arsenal losing unexpectedly, it appears the title's gonna be a two horse race between Chelsea and ManU.

And what a surprice Harry Redknapp has turned out to be. Fantastic performance.

EPL is the best football league in the world. There's just a slight difference between all the 20 teams playing on any given day otherwise where can you expect league topper losing to bottom most team.

Liverpool certainly didn't deserve to lose. And I'm sure they're gonna make a strong comeback. They're surely gonna give a stiff competition to Man Utd and Chelsea.

Though I am happy with Rediffs coverage of EPL, it should have a special board for the Indian Football league too

As a life member for East Bengal, I am interested

I am based in Ahmedabad but I keenly watch IFL as well .I just love football and I want the past glory of Indian football revibe again as India has produced lot gifted football players like Chuni Goswami,Balaram ,Ahmed khan,Thangaraj,Tarun Basu,Nirmal Sengupta,Sudhir karmakar,Pintu Choudhury,Goutom Sarkar,Alvito D guna, P.K.Banerjee,Yusuf Khan(Hyderabad),Jarnail Sigh,Arun Ghosh,Shyam Thapa,Baichung , Brahmanand,.I am sure out of these list Goalkeeper Tarun Basu and Forward Chuni Goswami are simply outstanding .I have never seen such a goal keeper like Tarun Basu catching the high lob ball with one hand perhaps world ever and who can forget that mesmerising dribble of Chuni Goswami matching almost pele and Maradona and the last but not the creative midfielder like Pintu Choudhury who used to score regularly from 25 to 30 yrds with a thundarous shots with his very lanky body .I support Saha for covering more on IFL instead of cricket

Harry a great Manager
by abboral boral on Nov 02, 2008 10:09 AM  | Hide replies

I regularly watch EPL and also the role of all top Managers very keenly .Harry Redknap is very cool Manager with no antics like all other Managers of other clubs shown in the field.Harry is the father of one of the finest midfielder England has produced Redknaap .I dont know he just vanishes to blue from active playing .He was visionary playmaker of England and his club i thing Liverpool or MU .All have forgotten this gifted football player .Well done Harry ,You never shown your craze for top clubs but always want to help lowest clubs in EPL .All the best

mr abboral boral,

i see u know sh 1 t abt english footy and managers. spurs are no bottom of the table meterial. its indeed a top 8 club in UK. an harry a life long and born arsenal supporter switched over to spuds from pompey coz of the financial package offered to him by daniel levy.. and harry's said to be the most disloyal manager in UK, switching over only for money...
and his son jamie redknaap was only an average miudfeilder who used to play for liverpool an irritating pundit if u hav ever listened to him in espns coverage of champs league a few years b4.
it seems strange u term jamie one of the finest england ever produced.

another fact w'd be that harry is the cousin of frank lampard senior of west ham and lampard jr is harrys nephew.

pls dont write rubbish to prove ur footballing knowledge. coz most ppl here w'dnt know abt all these things.

im sorry if my post anoyed u.... but atleast get things right.
