He should be stopped immediately for refusal partnering paes. With this attitue he cant go out and play well for our country. AITA should kick on his ass and stop him representing for india. Include somdev verman inplace of bhupathi. Do not include Rohan inplace of bhupathi as he also like bhupathy a ego person.

i donot agree, if he doesnot want to play with paes, aita cannot do anything abt it, if they force him they will never win, anyways aita pays them peanuts. as far as medals are considered in olympics except for shooting (that too seems difficult as no ammo is gvn to the shooters , they hv to manage on their own)india cannot win any medal period. we must only play cricket that too in our back yard, cause outside v lose.

Ego Clash??

Earlier I was of the opinion that Bhupati was being the spoilsport, but I see his point of view and feel Paes is not putting country before self this time by not getting together to put in sufficient practice before this prestigious event!

You are right! Mahesh always gets the blame no matter what. Irrespective of how good the team, it has to play in tune-up events to perform well at the main event.

He doesn't need to be frustrated . He is no. 12 and paes is no. 24 in the world doubles rankings. What mahesh is saying is right. Its the olympics not gully cricket where the best in the world compete. They have not won together in a long time and besides at 33 & 34 yrs of age they are not young anymore in a sport where people retire at 29. They are not roger federer or rafael nadal who can win without playing together enough. It would be a miracle if they even reach quarters without practising.

Personal life v/s professional life
by Mayank Kedia on May 22, 2008 04:10 PM  | Hide replies

Its indeed sad that one of the finest doubles pair in men's tennis that the country has seen in Leander and Mahesh, chose to part ways over petty issues. One wonders how much more they could have achieved had they been able to rein in their personal ego..and let their game flourish.

This is indeed a classic case of failure to balance their personal and professional life..what a shame..!!

KICK BHUPATHI OUT
by shakti kapooor on May 22, 2008 04:09 PM  | Hide replies

WHY SHOULD WE TOLERATE THIS BHUPATI WHO CANNOT PUT ASIDE ALL HIS PERSONAL THINGS FOR A COUNTRY.

WHAT HIS CONTRIBUTION TO TENNIS. JUST SOME DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIPS.

WHAT HE THINK, HE IS A GREAT PALYER.

WE SHOULD KICK HIM BACK.

what's your contribution to Indian tennis? Mahesh Bhupathi is one of the finest doubles player and won many championships. He has every right to chose his partner of his choice. As for Paes, his latest utterances against Mahesh speaks volumns. He wants to humiliate Hesh that's all.

I think they at 33 & 34 years of age are not getting any younger. Its a young mans game. By next olypics they would be 37 & 38 yrs of age. Even Jimmy conners, the oldest man to have played tennis retired at 34. What is the future policy of the tennis association. They should promote young blood like cricket else the future of this sport like all others is doomed.

LEANDER -BHUPATHI
by Srinivasan Iyer on May 22, 2008 04:03 PM

I think Mahesh is making a valid point. Match practice will help them to be better prepared. With such love lost between them (both can be blamed), it is better we dont send any team for the OLYMPICS.

Play for Country
by Ravi Tiwari on May 22, 2008 03:59 PM

Bhupathi & Paes is playing Tennius for their own interest, not for country. Since last few year, both are blaming each other, instead of playing and winning matches for own country.

The tennis federation has to take some strong action against both of them. and clear to both of them, either play for country or get out from country, so we can find some other good player, who can play for India.....

Shame on Paes & Bhupathi
