HOCKEY -OUR NATIONAL GAME IS AN ORPHENED GAME NOW
by Dev on May 20, 2008 07:38 PM

Indians were proud of Hockey when they brought unmatched glory to the Nation. Now it was orphened by the authorities and corporate houses of the nation.Be patriotic and promote poor Hockey players and support them.Once when we were the power house of Hockey in the World we all took glory of it as a pride and now when this game needs support to survive why these Authorites and Big Corporate houses are hiding behind. SHame on us!Let Hockey be our National pride ,Support the game in all sense.....

by arun george on May 20, 2008 06:09 PM

You r right man.And as such there is no growth/Progress of India under IOA.And therefor it becomes much more important to get rid of this USELESS,SMALL ELEPHANT who is without any proper agenda and future planning. He is and will take IOA to new lowsssss.
A really useless creature.

just 1% contribution is enough
by sonal gupta on May 20, 2008 06:02 PM  | Hide replies

Even if BCCI & IPL contributes just 1% of their total corpse, Indian Hockey Team & federation will go places. Winning a silver medal deserves some respect & financial assitance to help them grow in future

Well ur rite evenif d BCCI OR IPL Contributes a decent contribution HOCKEY in India can reach at a very good height.

I dnt understand y we dnt hav Corporates like Ambanis, Birla, TATA ,Kingfisher & even the Bollywood Stars who are Supportng Cricket Support Hockey.

Come on Man we won a Silver Medal & GILL Says no CASH INCENTIVE for the efforts our Boys have shown.

Had we lost miserably GILL & the guys sitting in the HOCKEY FEDERATION who have no clue of HOCKEY would be criticising all the guys.

Without supporting the boys dont expect any wonders from dem.

Hope someone is listening & any of the Corporates or Bollywood Stars take atleast one Step.

Goodluck to the Hockey Team.

See corporates support cricket not because they want to do some charity but because they can make huge money out of the investment they make in cricket. The same isn't true for hockey. There's hardly any live telecast of Indian hockey in any sports channel (excluding the likes of DD Sports). So, under such circumstances u cant expect people to invest money in hockey ( Remember the fact theat they are INVESTING and not DONATING)

Ban ?? What for ? Even if we win the Hockey world cup the bottom line is people should enjoy watching the game for the game to prosper.... The game of cricket itself more interesting than Hockey and I don't think hockey can ever make it to the level of interest as that generated by cricket

people who doesnt have work can enjoy watching cricket. that means waste time. hockey is a skilfull game. If they use proper maketing plans they can do wonders.European countries should stop changing rules to suite their needs.
today the beauty of the game is gone.

Kalmadi... aaswhole
by Shesh Lak on May 20, 2008 05:51 PM  | Hide replies

This Kalmadi seems to be stuck to the IOA chair for long. At least for past 25 yrs he is the chairman. I don't understand why is this happening in our country. He has captured the seat as if it is his paternal property.
Why there is no election for selecting the chairman? Bloody corrupt politicians..

No cash incentive for Hockey team.
by Anand Joshi on May 20, 2008 05:49 PM

Why not?
Hockey is our national sport. We have a glorious past.It is evident that our Hockey team has performed very well in this tournament. Our players should be givn cash incentives so as to keep their morale high.In case of games like cricket we are spending crores on the players that too for the lost cause as our cricket team has always been inconsistant.By increasing the cash inflow certainly we will get better results in hockey .

by makarand jahagirdar on May 20, 2008 05:49 PM

Its heartening to see that Indian Hockey Team finished 2nd in the Azlan shah tournament. They made a brilliant comeback after losing some matches in the begining...hats off to the entire hockey team.
