One piddling III-grade tournament final, and there's now WC talk already?!

Several grand thrashings await the India team.

hey big mouths. shut up and check stats before commenting. Azlan shah is one of the most prestigious tournaments. And of the 7 teams, apart from the two finalists, all are qualified in Olympics. India has beaten 4 Olympic qualifiers in a row to reach finals and that is a great job done indeed. You guys do not have any respect for other sports apart from IPL circus. So shut your bloody mouths up(rather keep your stinking fingers away from keyboard).

he was a great player and should be offered a good administrative post. But for president I think Pargat Singh is more suitable. He is a very respectable figure in hockey world and was one of the best defenders in the world at his time

desolve the IHF
by francis dsouza on May 20, 2008 04:05 PM

It is high time the IHF and State hockey federation get dissolve and new breed of well qualified with prove track record shoud be allowed to stand for election with accoontability. The hockey turf that has been promised should not land like sports village in PUNE.It is a shame that India being the second largest population in the world cannot one hockey team to win one tournment. Keep out the politcian in every game.

Politicians like kalmadi ,munshi etc should be kicked out with out notice. They made these appts as their "JAGIRS". It is also not necessary that hockey greats like pargat, dhanraj will take indian hockey back to its former glory. we have to get professionals like charlesworth and gang to bring in new fusion along with infrastructure and media coverage to bring hockey back where it belongs .

Let us make winning a habit
by Vinal Gandhi on May 20, 2008 03:48 PM  | Hide replies

Good start. But nothing to go over the top about. Let the IOA restore IHF with good administrators, let IHF chalk out a foolproof plan of making a good team and let them make winning a habit. Good teams do not get built up overnight. Even during KPS Gill's regime, te Indian team did win some big tourneys. So let them make a team which is consistent in winning and then hockey will be popular once again in India on its own merit.

by Ravi on May 20, 2008 03:43 PM

Hockey players just learning stages these days, they done excellent job in Azlan shah as all team was young players who are new, these young players needs to be carved more as they defeated by Argentina twice. They are still need to go long way for think about world cup. After 1980 Olympics India hockey going down and down and last year it taste the soil, now this new generation is new breed plants.

Felicitated with what?
by time pass on May 20, 2008 03:41 PM  | Hide replies

I would like to know how the hockey team members were felicitated. Is it just verbal felicitation or fecilitated to give out some financial rewards to the players?

But till you not dream of getting it, you can'nt get it. Because that dream will make you work/practice harder to get your dream come true
I too agree to what SPARROW has said that when you dream bigger you get a part of it, but if you dream less, then you very less.
