Why NOt Football?
by on May 12, 2008 07:35 PM  | Hide replies

Ive always wondered...If we have the skill & stamina to play a fast game like Hockey...why arent we getting anywhere in Football? They usually say, its cos Indians lack fitness that we failed in Football (which is also why we play a sloth game like cricket where majority of the players rest during the game) But then, how on Earth did we manage Hockey all these years??

because of "sardars" only.

only sardars / muslims have stamina to play the fastest game.

Indian Hocky in safe hands
by Dinesh Masta on May 12, 2008 05:43 PM

After the welcome departure of Mr. Gill, Indian hocky is handed over to those former player who led it to its most glorious moments.
I feel that thses selectors belong to the last generation of the best hockey players ever born in our country.
I hope they are the only guys who may bring the best moments of our national moments again in the near future.

India is a country of infertile reserved category people. Arjun singh is father of this infertile category of people.

A day is not far when all the talented people will migrate to other part of the globe.

THEY ARe IN A WORSE POSITION .THEY ARE STRUGGLING TO BEAT THE VERY WEAK TEAMS BUT WHEN IT COMES TO SLIGHTLY TOUGH TEAMS THEY GO DOWN EASILY .IN GILLS TIME THEY AT LEAST THRASHED THE WEAK TEAMS...REALLY SPEAKING IF INDIAN HOCKEY HAS TO GET ANYWHERE ..THEY HAVE TO PRODUCE GREAT PENALITY CORNER EXPERTS SO THEY CAN START KNOCKING OUT TOP TEAMS IN THIS TYPE OF GAME....THESE DAYS...

then how india made 5-1 in first half with out progress.Hockey is a game which needs different techinques for different games. Second half they plyed defence, so oppenent get 3 more goals.
Some time we have to play defence, and sometime we have to play attack game.
that is depend on team management and opp team.
We do not expect your support, but donot critisics what ever we do.
Getting crtisics for everthing, loss or win.
Nothing but indian charactor.

its quite true that best prepared wins always.. especially in sports...but i think lack of motivation is another main reason for failure of Indian hockey...we as citizens of India are responsible for that...we forget that Hockey is our National game and it should be given due importance which it deserves....

For any game, mental strength and perfect approach towards win are also needed along with the talent. Indians lack in that but not at all in talent. Most of the matches we loose due to lack of determination, proper plan and plan execution. Even in Cricket, we throw matches at times due to this reason. A professional training and personality building exercises are also necessary for players apart of their game, whatever it may be Cricket, Football or Hockey.

Indian Hockey was keeping the past medals in a museum and dreaming about the past glory.
Indian Hockey did not realize that glory will not remain forever.

During this time teams like Australia,Neitherlands,Germany etc excelled in their game.We remained just like that.

In the current game India led 5-1 at halftime. Then we should have finished 13-1. This is called excelling as the time passes by.

The foremost fact is that we should concentrate on the game quality and excellence ie played next to our houses and schools.

thats not the thing buddy.
Indian Hockey is good on natural grass field. The moment it was changed to artificial grass, the game became fast which the fit teams started to win. One day kabbadi will be played in artificial ground and we will start losing that sport also.

Its not good work. Excellence is ever growing and it does not end with a victory or a medal.

Even in defeat you can find excellence if you inner soul tells you that you performed very well but lost. Your inner consience will still encourage you. The thirst for excellence is still lacking.

In the current match they were leading 5-1 and end up with 6-4. This is not excellence. This is a poor performance in the second half. Dont look at the final score.Look at the present form.

It is so surprising that after leading by 5-1 India allowed Belgium to score 3 more goals after half time. This is certainly not a good sign.

i too agree with venugopalan that giving 3 goals in second half is not good but please show some patience with the team. Now only they were struck with the Jyotikumaran and Gill episode. This team will gel as time goes on and let the new administrators know individual players strength and weekness and also provide facilities to play on astro turf/artificial grass. So lets give them some time and peace of mind.
Anyways congrats to them for winning the match....
