Character - it applies to fans too
by MS on Mar 12, 2008 10:19 PM

The job of the fans is to help their team win but even in defeat they should continue to support their team. In India, we dont have this character - we get overjoyed when the team wins, we abuse them when they lose. Scoeity should laugh at these fair weather fans.

Another point, we need sponsors for lower level games - like college games. Those are the ones who can do with facilities. Money will come anyway to the national players. This is another thing we can learn from the west.

Dont make it an issue accept it

I donot know why people are making such fuss about not getting olympic berth or about gill.
I am truly disappointed about the result but I donot have no right to talk about this topic..because..including me..having interest in hockey...how many of us spent money to buy a ticket to watch hockey..how many of us switched TV channels to select between hockey and cricket. Many of us donot even know the faces of the hockey team members except Dhanraj retd. and coach bhaskaran..what we all know is face of Gill.

So guys stop fighting about this or talking about this..and start supporting hockey. if large number of people attend hockey matches or watch it on TV then sponsors will come and hockey will raise again as a pheonix and we will win olympics and world championship.

Chuck De!
by Rajesh Kejriwal on Mar 12, 2008 12:08 AM

This maybe slightly off the track, but one thing I can't stop thinking about is what would have happened had India won and returned home triumphant having booked a berth in the Olympics...

The scenario would have been that our slef-promoting, self-publicising & self-everything SRK would be at the airport to receive the team and take credit for their win in the light of his 'contribution to Indian hockey' thru Chak De!

Now, what I'm wondering is that does he have the balls to associate himself with a losing team???

No, he doesn't. That's why he is into a totally different ball game now - that of buying & selling cricket players thru Indian Punters' League...

Clean House at IHF
by Arv Singh on Mar 11, 2008 05:30 PM

This is the lowest Indian Hockey has ever been. It's time KPS Gill and Jootikumaran should be kicked out of Indian Hockey Federation. These two idiots have ruined Indian Hockey. I am not sure why these two have been in charge of IHF for so long despite the fact that none of them played hockey in their life. Why can't we get some of our retired players such as Balbir Singh Snr, Ajitpal Singh, Ashok Kumar, Pargat Singh, or Dhanraj Pillai to lead the IHF?

Indian hockey falls from grace

at the time of independence, hockey and cricket were on the same level. the players were treated fairly as equal and compensated as men of other sports and particularly cricket. of late even a state level cricket player is more prosperous amd better paid than that of a cricketeer. it is not surprising that hocke has no following in india and players fail miserably at international tournaments.
