by ellinna das on Mar 05, 2008 09:14 AM  | Hide replies

sorry to say sania ,but u have to relise that u r no where near to top class celebs, there are thousands above you, they have never reacted in your way then why you, i know you are scared of losing in the initial rounds, like you do in every tournament , so don't be so arrogant, come down to earth, realise your lowly position, if u cant then take citizenship of ur fav. country, no one is going to miss u, after a few days every one will forget you, if u want to stay here, take some teachings from the topclass celebs.

Ellinna Das,

The fact of the matter is, Sania has reached a position which none of our women has acheived so far and I would say, will never emulate. We just do not have it in us. Let us wish all well and enjoy the rest, all foreigners.

Ultimately, none is missed in this world. We all come alone and leave alone and Sania is no exception. Live & let live!

It is never the same!

Love her or hate her, without Sania it is never the same. Despite some star casts, all the articles have fallen flat with regard to readers' reaction.

Sadly, there are none from our camp who can give us something to cheer for. Killing the goose which lays the golden eggs comes to my mind.

We should all be more forgiving and less judgemental!

Well, you are right to a certain extent. People need to support somebody and tennis doesn't sell all that well in India. We do see a very competitive Tennis player in Sania and that boosts our viewing. Hopefully ppl will get more interested as the tornament progresses.

And again, The real reason, I feel, Sania opted outta the Bangalore open was cos Dubai open pays much much more where she crashed out of the second round.

Ellina Das,

It is very easy to call people names, but you should look at facts.

Whenever Sania plays in India, she is dogged by controversies unrelated to sports. Now, even Paes is not spared. Had Sania been playing for any other country with the same intensity and outlook, she would have been just a talented player. Many of us go to dissect a player other than for the playing ability . Every action of hers is brought out in negative line. Let us admit our second bests, though brought up in the best acdemies in the west, are so much below par. So instead of leaving her alone & appreciated for her talents, Sania is pushed into a corner and made a scapegoat.

Let her take a break and us also. It is easy to talk about patriotism and accuse others. Please do not judge others without knowing all the facts.

We have to just enjoy the sport and leave petty jealousies aside. Sharapova speaks Russian with an American accent and has not played much in Russia. That does not prevent her from playing when she is available. Ditto Agassi or Sampras for Davis Cup. Yao Ming plays Basket ball mostly in US, but is considered a national icon in China!

We just do not give anybody space and quick to jump to conclusions. No wonder, we have this mentality to pull all to mediocrity.

Thank God Vish Anand is riding high, out of our sights! Otherwise he can also be a sitting duck, as he resides in Spain!
