I had the opportunity of watching the 1958 world cup through TV and video recordings. Soccer has changed over the years through technique, strategy and off course the protection given to quality ball players now-a-days. the 195 squad should the world the actual class and I consider it as a dream team. Game was open and players were often hacked from behind and had to leave the field. Brazilian victory opened the eyes of world football and within a span of 12 years, the Jules Rimet was taken permanently for winning the world cup in 1958, 1962 and 1970. The 1958 victory had pumped enough confidence on the minds of the Brazilian footballers that they repeated the feat cup after cup. Names of Pele, Garrincha, Vava, Zagalo and Didi echoed throughout the world. Subsequently Pele was crowned The king of football. However, the feat of flying sparrow (Garrincha)cannot be forgotten as he should the art of wing play. To me the Brazilian Squad of 1958 was one of the best team that had ever walked and world cup pitch in the long history of world cup football.

Respect is earned by winning great trophies. And we need to win in any game in order to earn respect. We have not earned any respect anywhere.

With all respect Saravanan, how many nations play cricket, in fact, how many countries know such a game exist? Football / soccer, however, is played by almost all countries in the world. So, please do not compare cricket, let alone "T20" with World Cup Football. It sounds foolish.

To pre-empt any hostile remarks, I must inform you that I played cricket for my University and watch almost all games regularly as a fan.

We have 1983 Prudential Cricket World Cup in our Kitty. We (INDIA) have a good respect in Cricket because of the good administration by our own BCCI. No other Sports in INDIA has a good governing body thats why we are lagging.
