All the messages below don't make any sense to me, she just won the first round of Wimbledon and people are talking as if she lost.

3rd round
by Inca on Jun 24, 2008 10:53 PM  | Hide replies

I can see Sania would struggle to past 3rd round. If everything goes right she would face VENUS in 3rd round match. I am assuming she will win her 2nd round match against the unseeded Chinese.

But for Sania, if she could reach 3rd round, that itself is an achievement. In India there was not other player in history who could reach 3rd round of Wimbledon ladies challenge.

I wish her best of luck.

Abe she will take on Spanish Maria in second round and not unseeded Chinese. I am sure she will be out of second round considering the fact Maria beat her opponent more convincingly.

The way Sania is praised by the media it seems like she has won many grand slams in her career. She just comes in the top 40 seeds because others loose matches and hence their rankings decline. Players like Ivanovic, Djokovic deserve praise as they are from a country who few years ago did not even have a tennis court to play. They used to practice in a swimming pool. And still they are in the top 5 seeds. And look at the state of the sports in our country ! Its just a shame.

Just by going into 3rd round is not enough.Media should highlight her if she reaches semis or finals only..She is earning money by just going to 2nd & 3rd round...

Singles performance:
2007 2006 2005
Australian Open 2nd round 2nd round 3rd round
Roland Garros 2nd round 1st round 1st round
Wimbledon 2nd round 1st round 2nd round
US Open 3rd round 2nd round 4th round

So She is an average player.WE in India hail her because there is still no better average player than her.

She is less than average player.Since no woman represented the country, it becomes a news.

She gets more coverage because of religious fanatics.

1.No indians reached till the level Sania reached in woman tennis, but still below average in world circuit.

2. I said fanatics, it means both communities.
I never said Muslim

Muslim women are confused becaused of her.
Mullas say burka. but for years they were supressed like that and they dint get any thing.
Now short-skirted Sania is showing what this world can give if you are sucessfull, independent and shed Islam.

Hats off to Sania for revolutionizing the minds of Muslim women

It makes no differance, she is still nursing a injury.
The main thing is that she is participating that is what matters most.
East or West for us Sania is best.

When she is winning why cant atleast appreciate her. Atleast be happy that some one from India is representing the Country. It is very easy to comment bad but takes guts to say good and perform well.

It is called jealousy, every one think they can play better then the person who is playing.
all of them think it is very easy to play tennis all one have to hit a ball.
I would ask them tor try it at international level and not a back street level.
Soon they will know what tennis is.
Sania is doing very well if not winning at least she is participating and not just making excuses.
Come on Sania what ever place you reach is good for me and many others keep it up Girl.
Win or no Win, For us you are ace.
Forget the rest you are the best.
