PISTOL PETE IS BETTER THAN FEDERER
by Guest on Jun 16, 2008 04:25 PM  | Hide replies

PISTOL PETE is better than Federer and Nadal. When sampras playing there is lot of legendary players like Lendel, McEnroe, Vilander, Becker, Edberg, Agassi, Ivanisevic, Rafter, Jim Courier, Chang etc. At that time we can see the lot of edge of the seat matches. Now there is no quality in tennis like that era. Now there is only a Nadal and Federer fight.

No other such great players.

If federer beats sampras in the number of grandslams, PISTOL PETE is far better than fedex

FedEx - best ever
by ranya sudhakar ravindra on Jun 16, 2008 04:05 PM  | Hide replies

Nadal might be in form thus far this season. he may well overtake Federer in the rankings this year. But remember one thing- he can never match the class with which Federer plays the game. Nadal's grinding efforts are worth applauding, but i'm afraid; his excess grinding game will definitely wear him down over the next few years. Already he has had several injuries because of this & watch out for some serious injury to this warrior. i'll be surprised if he continues to domonate 5 years down the line(till then; federer surely will remain at the top) at Federer's age; which Federer has succeeded in doing over the las 4-5 years. I'm not against Nadal. Infact, his efforts on the court are 2nd to none. just that his game is susceptible to wear n tear...

On another count, look at the standards FedEx has set himself in the sport, that people say he is out of form even if he loses in a Grand Slam final. That only underlines his credentials. Moreover, last year too Federer picked up form this very point in the season and continued till Shanghai. Watchout for a repeat.

Anyway, i think we should discuss about the contributions of these top two players to World Tennis(2 of the best top 2 players in this era) rather than fighting over who's better. Just enjoy their
TENNIS rivalry...

Calling Nadal The King of Clay is gross injustice to him. He has reached last two finals at Wimbledon, and all but edged out Federer last year. If there were any doubts about his being an equally good player at Grass courts, those should have been dispelled yesterday after he ground Djokovic into submission. If Federer was watching his performance yesterday, it must surely have instilled him a sense of fear. In his heart of hearts, he knows that his days of domanance of Men's Tennis are all but over. Should Federer be able to make it to Wimbledon final against Nadal, we might see a very different Federer; one who has lost even before taking to court. This is what happened at Paris two weeks ago.

Oye ash. yeh kya drama shuru kar diya? Are you the same ash. who a few months back used to screech 'Mujhe Pyaar Chaahiye' on the web.
For your fans' sake, please cast away this acedemic gown, and come back to seeking true love. It is much more amusing.
And where did you gather all this knowledge of Tennis, eh?

Dear Airshwarya: I fully agree with you that this season Nadal is in great form and Federer, by his own admission, is not in the best of form. But, even so, is it right to say that Nadal's performance would have instilled in Federer a sense of fear? Remember, Federer is a great champion and has achieved some impossible statistics which no other Tennis player in modern times has done. Remember, he has reached 14 consecutive Grand Slam finals starting from 2006 Wimbledon. Is Nadal or any other modern player capable of achieving this? He has already won 12 Grand Slams and is bidding to overtake Sampras. Probably this record at a touching distance has made Federer a bit nervous and one sees a fall in his standard of play. Even so, an out of form Federer has reached Australian Open, Miami Masters and Rome Semis, and the finals of French Open, Monte Carlo and Hamburg Masters this year. And here we are talking of an out of form Federer! For the past two years, after Wimbledon, Nadal has been crashing out in 2nd and 3rd rounds of many tournaments. Yes, Nadal is a great Champion and a fighter to the core. But he is nowhere in the class of a Federer as yet, in spite of winning 4 French Open on his favourite Clay. In spite of a very bad year by his own standards for Federer, he is still a very great Champion and will always be considered as one of the all time greats, even if he does not win another Grand Slam!

There is a small mistake in my above posting. Federer reached 10 consecutive Grandslam finals since Wimbledon 2005 and not as stated above in my posting. Error is regretted. Even 10 is a great figure and I doubt whether any of his contemporaries ever dream of achieving it!

Federer had won 3 grad slams (except french open) in a year for 3 times. Nadal is one of the greatest player in clay for sure. But when it comes to Gross court he has lot to achieve to compare with Federer.I think this year is not good for Federer. He soon will get his master play back. Also good luck for Nadal for Wimbledon.

Another irritating Nadal fan. Lets see if Nadal reaches the Wimby final this year. If Federer picks his game up by a slight margin, it will be a mauling.

Why should you be irritated by Nadal or his fans. He has been the most hard working player on the circuit, and is worthy of World no.1 spot and more Grand Slam titles. On current form, Federer raising his game anotch is not going to be enough for him. Nadal will be required to play below par for Federer to be able to compete against him.
No sane person can dislike Federer, but Nadal is equally lovable, being well behaved and down to earth. After thrashing Federer at Paris, he did not start thundering. He demonstrated his humility by suggesting that something must have been wrong with Federer.
What kind of persons can be irritated by a sportsman like Nadal? Please get a MRI Scan of your head.

Why irritating nadal fan? Should all fans only favour Federer and not nadal? It is true Nadal gave such a beating to Federer in the French Open finals, that Fedex has never ever given to Nadal. It's time people accept Nadal is the biggest threat to Fedex's No. 1 spot.

And perhaps you forget that Federer has reached 3 consecutive French Open finals? How much more complete a player can he be? And nadal has never received a mauling from FedEx? Remember Hamburg 2007? He got a bagel in the final set...

The word "irritating" is very absurd. When Federer himself does respect Nadal, it's wrong on Federer fans to call Nadal's fans irritating or boring. They both have demonstrated some of the most superior skills in Men's Tennis. That's why they are ruling their era. No matter who wins, they both are already in the record books.

Nadal's athleticism is exceptional and so are Federer's skillful strokes. They both have improved and are planning for the big day. It would be a treat to watch them play the finals at London. Instead of being a Federer fan or Nadal fan, if you become a Tennis fan you would enjoy this tournament like never before. That's assured!!

It is too early to say that Nadal is an all round player on all surfaces since he never won anything beyond french open but there is no denying the fact that this man is improving and has age on his side. Federer is confronted with two things here. A vastly improved nadal on grass who is physically and mentally more stronger and fitter. Federer, but for couple of grandslams he won never had to fight it out. His game was so complete. But now with so many days on top and younger crop coming, he needs to work hard and work more every time to win which is showing in his victories now. But if he makes lesser number of errors and stay focussed, he still is a great artist and he can easily break sampras record in the years to come. For the last 5 years, we have enjoyed one of the all time greats beating everyone with his artistry and as the saying goes " all good things in sports will come to an end", federer will soon realize that it will be much harder to win another grandslam unless he performs at his best.
