Italian are world champion by luck
by ANIL KUMAR on Jun 10, 2008 08:54 AM  | Hide replies

The four team Germany, Argentina, France and Italy in the last world cup semifinal. Of which All the 3 teams are better than Italy. Its all luck that made them world champion.
I was very happy to see them defeat yesterday.

It was luck and above all Fabio Cannavaro. Italy miss him dearly. He is one of the best defenders. Look at the kind of saves he made in the WC.

Yes I also know football means Italy. There is a saying Italians learn to walk later but learn football first.
But face the fact. If football means Italy then we can say Hockey means India. ha ha both are in their worst form.

I know you guys are not really familar with world football. It would be foolish to say that Italian football is inferior to France. On the contrary, they are above france in t erms of quality. If you compare world cup of 2006, i just request you towatch the game agains, you would understand that. those who say that it was sheer luck, they absolutely know nothing. If luck was in Italy's side then, they should have won the man 3-1, becuase two of their shots were hit at bar and post.

I can't agree. I still belive Argentnia was the best team in the last WC but fail to German due to hard luck. I think, till semifinal, no one was thinking about Italy & France.

Why to watch the final only, you better watch the semifinal and the other matches that Italy own in the last world cup. There is nothing in there game that will impress one( who watch football ) to consider them for world champion. They are world champion by luck.

franclin is too baised. France was definitely the better side in WC 2006. Only lady luck and Zenadin incident got them the cup.

Serves Italy right

Italy are the perennial cheats of world football - winning sneakily - serves them right for this win. It is unfortunate that the best matches - Germany vs Poland and Holland vs Italy are taking place late at night. But I am really happy for Holland - one of my favourite nations in Europe. I only hope Germany wins the tournament and take the rightful place as 'nummer eins'. Will have to catch Sneijder's goal today on the highlights - sounds a treat.

it really was a stunner. may not be the best goal. but it was almost impossible to create an angle that too with one touch. i saw the match and was extremely happy for the dutch. italy got paid for their own follies though they were smartly outplayed by the dutch.

the first goal...
by Mudit Srivastava on Jun 10, 2008 04:13 AM  | Hide replies

was nistelrooy really off-side in the first goal ? i mean sure, he looks off-side...but what most of us havent noticed is that one italian player was sitting down on the far-side behind the goal-line, after a collision that just preceded the goal. could it be that no one noticed that, except the line-referee ?? and wud nistelrooy be called off-side then ? of course, that player was not in the playing area...but he was not injured or being attended to, and definitely in front of nistelrooy!

i think it was a fair goal..wht say ?

One who is outside the line does not count in the game. Infact the game has to be stopped to bring him back into the game, he cannot even enter the game just like that after receiving treatment.

So the goal was a lucky off-side goal. Bad decision by the linesman.

Have a good Euro2008

it is onside as per the new rule. also see BBC comments on it. the italian was the culprit who is siting outside the goal line.

Dear Brother,
It was offside.... As per FIFA rule if anyone is injured he will have to stay outside the playing area, hence that italian player was outside the area & he will not be included if he was not going behind the ball or any opponent player...It was a clear offside

How do you know that soccernet didn't copied from rediff?
Because you too dumb to realize that both these websites have got this article from Reuters. And they pay Reuters to do so.
