It one man show
by chander thakur on Jun 09, 2008 04:45 AM

I was too anxious/excited to witness a fine battle between legendary players. First set went just one sided. As usual, I thought Federar hitback in second set and he did but not longer. I saw little frustration & pressure on Roger's face, which allowed him making more unforced errors. Just he let nadal to win.
On other hand, it was treat to watch NADAL on clay. What a performance, he was playing against World Number one but he made it like ONE MAN SHOW. It seems no one can beat him atleast in next couple of years on clay. I thought Djokovic will give good fight to nadal since he is very young & had good performance this year also he won Australian Open. But he gave up like unseeded player. If Djokovic & Roger can't beat him, I would say someone has to do Lot of homework to play against this CLAY KING.

He was nice, he congratulated Roger's effort to make it FInals for the last three years in row. And he was sorry about he couldn't make it further.

It was great to see everyone appreciated his (Roger's) humbleness on the ground. Usually people go crazy, I saw Fernando Gonzalez broke his raquet in quarter finals against Federer.

HATS OFF to NADAL

** On Serious Note **

I feel sorry for all up coming sport persons in India.

The real issue is with politicians, being a country on 120 crore people we do not have even good sport complex. How many good stadiums are there were people can practise (Any sports), how many corporate have come forward to help other sports like track and field, tennis.

Indians believe in the following.

Start preparation for Olympics 3 months before the event and expect a Gold Medal...Seems Jokes of the century...Sport person of other nations practice for 8 years and we practice for duration which is like [resting period of real champions]..

Example : Suresh Kalmadi on TV giving speech 4 months before START of Olympics [I declare OPEN the prepratory camp for Olympics] and then he goes on saying that this Olympics we are expected few GOLD....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...Even that person knows that even if we competite in the events that is good enough.

Be it a Sports Minister from COngress or BJP they are the same, being a sports person myself I feel that be it Uma Bharti or Ashok Dhinda all are same they are there to make money and make a fool of people based on religion caste and creed....

Really feel sorry when I do not see any indian sports person at world level....

It is not that we indias are bad but we do not get facilities

Even if what you are saying is all true, India is an up and coming country. Reservations had to be created in a country like India to pull the so called "lower castes" out of their wretched conditions. Even with reservations for the last 50 years, we are still being ruled by upper class communities(Brahmins,Reddy's ,etc).
What better way did our politicians in the 40's and 50's have to pull a majority of the population out of their misery? I think it was the right step and once literacy spreads across all corners of the country, we will be able to fight injustice better as a country and will not need reservations(atleast, I hope so). One huge issue for Indians through history has been the inability to fight for justice. Even when our numbers are more, we were unable to fight back against smaller groups of foriegn invaders. Very few stepped forward to fight for the people. The blame for our current problems should lie with the people as a whole, not solely with the politicians or the people in power.

where are the grounds, equipment, tennis facilities, etc, for Indians to play? All we have is gullies and that's why we excel at gully cricket. Sachin's speciality is the striaght drive, gangu's is the off drive... yuvraj only played fast bowlers in the gully, everything depends on which gully you play in.

Rafa should thank Amritraj...
by ashwini jain on Jun 08, 2008 10:37 PM  | Hide replies

This is the irony...Rafa and Fed were able to reach finals because Amritraj from India didn't play...Rafa should thank the only god on clay...AMRITRAJ...Fed is a useless chap on clay...the standard on clay has fallen so much that useless chaps like Fed can make up to Finals...
