nadal - federer
by chelsea on Jun 07, 2008 10:17 PM

Federer is an amazing player and if not for Nadal would have been winning all four slams consistently. Federer has to play close to a perfect game to beat Nadal. He made too many unforced errors in the semifinal and Nadal will pounce if he makes them again. Nadal is looking unbeatable this slam though. Also the fact that he is a lefty gives him an edge. That being said, if anyone can beat Nadal on clay, its Federer. Wish Roger all the best for tommorrow's match.

Nadal should win it....

There have been some great legends in tennis and Roger Federer is undoubtedly one of them... infact he is far better than the last one called
Pete Sampras.... His nickname - "Pistol Pete" for his serving gives out the uni-dimensional nature of his game...Federer on the other hand has an all court game and is exceptional off both sides forehand and backhand...He deserves to break the 14 grand slam record set by Pete Sampras as well as the record of 7 wimbledon titles.
But Nadal is no small a player in terms of ability. Those who would have seen last years French open finals and more importantly the wimbledon finals would definitely agree. Federer has almost won everything. The French Open crown eludes him just like several other legends who won everything but the French open...When he will finish he will be a legend. If he wins the French open his kitty will be absolute...and by rules of equality I have a problem with that. Nobody should have everything.
More importantly from a purely tennis based reasons Rafa has byfar been the best player on clay since the past four consecutive years. If one match was to undo so much and deny him a deserving record equalling feat then it would be too harsh. Lets hope that Rafa wins it....that would make Wimbledon even more mouth watering coz Federer would be a wounded tiger - in his own den.
Come what may....the two gentlemen will surely provide great entertainment for sure. Go Rafa go...

well analysed mate! i like your logic but dont agree non the less.... i feel federer has done well on court let alone nadal...pete or any other gr8 of past (except borg) have won everything except french but none has reached finals of french once let alone thrice... federer is second best on clay and a super legend overall... he deserves it...

Nadal - A tough nut to crack for Fedex...
by Rajesh Shetty on Jun 07, 2008 01:39 PM  | Hide replies

Lets not forget that till last year before the Hamburg finals on clay, Nadal was on a 81 match winning streak on clay, till he lost to Federer.
And since then I dont think he has been beaten again on clay by anyone. So Fedex will have to be at his ultra-best and Nadal at his worst to lose tommorows finals. But I hope it will be a 5 setter. Till Federer becomes more stronger, swifter and fitter like Nadal, he will find it difficult to emulate what he does best on grass.

Another fed-nad contest, lots of chips (or pakodes) and good alcohol, and one of the best evenings again in the finals.

Federer - the ultimate champion
by B Basu on Jun 07, 2008 11:37 AM  | Hide replies

Roger Federer may not be muscularly built. He may not be having the booming serve like others. But the precision with which he controls the balls and puts them at the farthest corners of the courts, kissing the baselines and the sidelines are somply awesome. He is the real all-time great. With no apparent exaggeration in his strokeplay, his body should hold him in good stead for many many years and establish him as THE "ultimate champion ever".
