Free them from finacial worries and get a good team
by Vijay Kumar Singhal on Jul 31, 2008 10:08 AM

Unless our players are free of all financial worries, we can not hope to make a good team.
After all it does not guarantee a player that if he spends his life for the game, he will get peaceful meal. Whatever achievements here and tehre our players have got are due to thier own hard work and own facilities. Govt hardly gives any facility to them.
More than that if some player is going to rise and has more potential to rise, our games associations never suport him. They always try to pull his leg, so that he may not rise at all.
Shame on our attitude.

What an achievement!
by Ganpat Rai on Jul 31, 2008 08:22 AM  | Hide replies

A well-established democratic country with more than a billion people which has not fought a full-scale war for 30 years, can muster a team of 11 footballers who barely scrape past 11 Afghans, whose country has been shattered by almost 30 years of endless war. The world shall now know true fear of this Indian football team. HA HA HA !!!!

Why blame the team Ganpat? Do you know exactly what kind of facilities do they get? There was an article in TOI dated july 30th, with the National Coach's coments - go read it if possible

My dear friend, why don't you go and see what kind of facilities are there in Cameroon (reached WC quarterfinals in 1990), Senegal (beat France in 2002), Togo & Ivory Coast (qualified for WC 2006)... you want more examples? All these countries have Much less population, much weaker economies and much less facilities as compared to your precious Indian football team.

You guys just keep complaining about lack of facilities and stay in your dream world, while the rest of the world progresses. Some day India will be ranked LAST in the world and still you will sit and complain about facilities.

It was a sheer waste of time watching the low quality football by the Indians. The Afghani's played much better than us..I think future of Indian Football is in Danger.. Almost every one was out of Shape..Especially Pradeep..Bungo Singh... Climax, Chettri and the Goal Keeper showed some interest towards the game..Hope they will play atleast some gud football in teh next matches..

Maybe when India plays against a team of orangutans, they might just barely manage to win 2-0.

Indian football will only improve a lot better when they atleast 5 players out of 11 on the field. No doubt Climax Lawrence is an outstanding & intelligent footballer in todays generation. All the best in future matches and hope India wins all the matches & this tournament. Kudos to rest of the other members who made this win possible.

Oh yes... Goa is great. I love to go there and see underaged girls get violated and massacred by drug lords.
Besides, India is ranked 153 in the world, out of around 200 countries. Maybe if Goa became a separate country and formed its own team, they would be ranked 152?
Be proud of your state and players, by all means, but also stay awake and stop day-dreaming.
