my ignorant friend,you know about the Indian cricket team making the finals of the Asia Cup(and losing miserably) but you don't know about the Indian Hockey team winning the Asia Cup handsomely and thus qualifying for the next World Cup. The Indian Hockey team was guaranteed a place in the 2010 World Cup regardless of whether they hosted the World Cup or not.You were not aware of Asia Cup hockey because you were busy playing gully cricket.You need not worry about extinction of Indain Hockey. Go back to your narrow lane and continue playing gully cricket.
it is pride to held worldcup. but i think India has lost its moral right to have it. any country, doesnot qualify in leagu matches, should not be allowed to hold such gracious events.

DILIP make sure before YOU write.. FIH is d short for 'F�d�ration Internationale de Hockey sur Gazon' which is d original French name of the federation... International hockey fed is d english translation of d name

Hockey World Cup is coming to India at a time when Indian Hockey is plagued by several on-field and off-field problems. Everyone has blamed everyone for the sham but no one owes it up. Can we have a real Kabir Khan to take over the reins of Indian Hockey and will it be Chake De India for real? More importantly will that Kabir Khan get a chance? Idiot ..the country which host any world cup qualify automatically...they need not to god thru qualfiying process..
thas why India hosted world cup..so that they can get a chance wothout playing qualifying.:)

Dear Mr.Ignorant,India qualified for the 2010 Hockey World Cup by winning the last Asia Cup. So,even if the World Cup were to be held on the moon,India would play in it.

There is condition here that IF nurtured properly and IF dirty politics does not happen.
Like IPL Cricket, Mallaya, Shahrukh Khan, Priety Zinta, Ambanis and others should come forward to improve the National Game Hockey also. People of India will be thankful if the Hockey is also improved and tournament like IPL are Organised for Hockey.

tournament like IPL is already held since last 4 - 5 years. infact IPL drew inspiration from that only. But still it has done nothing to improve the level of national team.

In PHL the prize money for the whole team was Rs.40 lakhs whereas in IPL each player earned in crores that is the reason the youth r not attracted to Hockey.
