I agree that he is mediocre compared to a maradona, or a zidane but in his prime , he wz a great player , he wz the second best fifa player of the year in 2000, and his penalties were almost impossible to stop, and his crosses, forget those and who ll forget his goal from the half line, i agree that he being a style icon made him famous, but he is not an average player

@topic-starter....clearly you haven't been watching 'football' for a long time. Ask any Man Utd or an England fan the quality of Becks as a player. Me being the former, can remind you of the pin-point crosses, inch-perfect free kicks that he used to deliver week-in, week-out. I agree that his celebrity status was getting too much into his head, which was the reason he had a fall-out with the manager. But as a player, he is truly a legend.
