Supporting Players Emotionally & Not The Game
by Mr. Qureshi on Jul 20, 2008 12:38 PM

Supporters of Roger & Nadal sound more emotional than justified.
Definitely the tennis was winner & i would like to see these kind of great matches
I beleive its end for none of them and they both will give great entertainment.

Common comments from Federer supporter's.
'Rafa is not good as Federer & rafa taking time to serve & wiping front & back.
Common comments from Nadal supporter's.
Sunset for Federer & End of an era for Federer.
Losers have always Excues. Moreover, supporters of losers too.
Its for sure that you read unsporting comments with emotions runs high from east.
I hardly see Asians interested in game and more interested in taking players sides.

Goran - Rafter 2001 Final
by Ashwin Sardeshpande on Jul 09, 2008 04:02 PM

I would rate the Goran - Rafter 2001 Final as the best final ever as I have been a huge Ivanisevic fan ever since I saw him loose to Agassi in the 1992 final. That year, the Championship was DESTINED to be won by Ivanisevic. There was just so much drama surrounding Goran all along. He beat Moya,Roddick,Rusedski,Safin and Henman to get to the final.
Quality wise , the 2008 Fedx-Rafa final should rate as the best tennis seen so far, but for the sheer charisma and fate and destiny all combined, I would rate the 2001 Goran-Rafter final as the best.

Great match but not best
by IMM Advertising IMM on Jul 08, 2008 10:36 PM

Hi all. It was an excellent match but definitely not the best because frankly i never felt Fedex had a chance. Rafa had him by his alls all the time.

Goran Ivansevic vs Patrrick Rafter....
by raj mane on Jul 08, 2008 12:17 PM  | Hide replies

May b this Wimbledon final is equally as good as 2001 final where wild card entry Goran Ivanisevic bt Patrick Rafter 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 2-6, 9-7.
So he finally succeded to break jinx of grand slam after featuring in 1991 wimbledon final only to loose against Agassi.....
It was his dad a heart patient who was present in stands against doctor's advice & Goran said after the match that if he had loose ........he might have lost his father.....

The 2001 final was good. it had a lot of drama like this one. But in terms of quality this one is the best ever played in the history of the game. Federer and Rafa play a totally different brand of tennis which even the 4th and 5th ranked players dont play. it is reflected in the ATP points. Federer and rafa are above 6000 while 5th ranked davydenko is 2900 and 4th ranked ferrer is 3000. Djokovic occasionaly plays the same brand of tennis. He has about 4900 points. This will be the greatedt game played for a long time to come. Maybe next wimbledon!!

Ivanisevic-Rafter 2001
by Prasiddha on Jul 08, 2008 11:53 AM

It was a terrific match played in an electrifying atmosphere.. i loved the environment, where every point was cheered like a GOAL in soccer..i still remember each n every facial expression og Goran in that final game,. man it was awesum... i havent seen Borg-John or Becker-Edberg finals LIVE, but Goran-Pat final has to be the greatest final ever in my book...

Clearly no

I wouldn't for a moment think of not appreciating the game of players like Bjorn Borg, Mats Wilander, Pete Sampras, Ivan Lendl, Goran Ivanisevic, Roger Federer, Rafal Nadal, Nalbandian etc.

However to me sports is much more than winning. Any sport comes alive, when the game is accompanied by the distinct, deft personality of the player.

Based on this premise, my favourites are undoubtedly players like Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Boris Becker, Stefen Edberg, Pat Cash.

The match was great and must find a place in histiry.I however feel that Federer needs to remove his mental block about Nadal.

yes, Federer seems to be losing the battle psychologically to Rafa.He has all the shots in the book but the execution deserts him in the finals against Rafa. But Full credit to nadal who has taken his game to new heights. If one person deserved to beat federer at Wimbledon then it was nadal... Hope Federer can silence his critics in the US open...

Couldn't agree with you more. In a match with Nadal, Federer doesn't quite play like a true champion that he is. Even on the occasions that he has won, it looks like an upset.
