I do not doubt Bob's talents or his genuine intentions but the fact remains that our football body will NOT allow him or anybody else to improve our Football. Our IFA and AIFF people are just hope less and have only one agenda. Fill thier pockets.
State football clubs like EB in particular and other clubs including Mohun Bagan have in fact spoiled Indian Football. The last player of real capability to come to Bengal wsa P. Kannan , aplayer of extrordinary calibre. He was reallyb spoiled by his associates in Mohunbagan and later on others. A player who was not only a schemer but also was a ball player anda shooter of tremendopus ability not seen before in the Maidan during the mid 60's
houghton is right about the intefering state leagues, especially IFA. I am Bengali but I want to see India play and win an asian tournament. forget world cup. we were winning tournaments back in the 70s. but the pace and professionalism is in stark contrast to the amateur days. unless aiff changes its mindset and dissolves all state leagues and promotes and markets football, India will not make the mark in Asia. Houghton should be given a free hand - his comments on top premier league teams selling their merchandise and the folly of inviting Bayern is embarassingly true. Premier league has been pushing in China as well but China has been making strides on their own. Houghton knows his job let him do it
this is what we need to support not freaking cricket. each (real)football player is capable running a marathon, all these cricketers do a sit on boundries and wave at people. Olympics are around the corners, lets see how many medals these cricketers bring home.
