continuation ..........

If she is getting mentally bogged down because of constant criticism , she should settle in abroad and try to improve her game but downside for her is she wont be getting the attention like what she gets in India.

Success comes at some price, isn't it ?

Thats so mean of you to say. Shes a Muslim girl, not some coldhearted stripper. After being put on a hitlist, shes been blamed for insulting the countrys flag. That was disgracefull. The Indian govt should have done something to assuage her fears. Shes surely a brave one and great effort at the Ozzie open. Go Sania.

Just to give you an example Sachin Tendulkar was criticised for cutting cake which has indian tricolor on it. Did he ever say that he wants to quit the sport he liked? No! .

I think if she really wants to improve her game for herself or put India on the global map of tennis, she has to make sacrifices.

Today she says "I proved, I'm strong", what happened to her mental strength when she was thinking of Quitting the sport she choosed and believed she can make it big.

There is a lot of difference between thinking and doing. I hope you understand that... there are times when unnecessary frustrations bog you down. I'm sure you too might have felt low sometime in ur life till now and might have that that you are good for nothing... Whether its still a fact i'll leave it to you to think about. :-D :-D

vinay, people like you only know to criticise. y the hell r losers like u continously criticising sania...... it is coz of sania that indian youngsters are taking up this sport seriously... she has got a lot of pride for us.

only if u r hell-bent on criticising her, like thackeray and modi, just coz she is a muslim, then ut's ur choice.

Excellent comments from Vinay... and I am feeling so sorry for the perverts here, who thinks that running around the tennis court shakin the fat a$$ and "bobbies" is good tennis!

She knew that there are millions of perverts who drool over her. So they will "persuade" her not to quit the tennis. cos indian hope and tennis is pinned on her fat a$$..

Publicity stunt...!! "I am quitting.." he..he..

Lets see if she's STRONG when she plays Venus!

Congratulations to Sania for qualifying to third round of Australian open.Seriously it doesn't surprise since she is seeded 31, but what surprises me is the way she struggled to beat the qualifiers in first two rounds of Australian open.

I think we should stop calling Sania,"young" and "21 year old" since she turned "Pro" at 16 years.(Remember even Sharapova is 21 and look at her game, she is a complete package).Till when are we going to cry that Indians are not physically stronger that other players from Europe,Russia or the US.

I was avid fan of her and i dint miss a single match of her when she had won WTA tier III tournament in Hyderabad, but again the opposition who were pitted against her were Kirilenko and Bondareko were just not good enuf. There was lot of hype about her win in Hyderabad but since then I dint see her taking any major tournaments.

I believe we should only judge Sania by her performances in Grandslams and only Tier I and II tournaments since the kind of opposition she will play are far better. I think time has come for Sania to push up a gear and start performing and winning "consistently". I agree she had few scalps of top 20 players but she doesn't carry the momentum to next rounds of tournament.

To win a major tournament, one needs to win 9 matches on the trot.I don't think Sania has it in her to go all the way. She should get some kind of consistency into her game.

If she is getting mentally bogged down because of constant criticism , she shoul

How strong are you Vinay? Have you won any soap boxes in school competitions? And you want Indians to be stronger than Europeans and Americans, eh? For that you need to eat like them. Curd rice won't help, buddy.
Sania is doing the best she can. If we Indians have physical limitations, so be it. Winning Grand Slams is not a must, but competing is. Sania is a too-larger-than-life figure for all lazy bumps who give 'expert' comments from their couch. ha ha.

Sania is "too-larger-than-life" or whatever you said is for the biggest loosers like you.... you are such a looser that you dont have the guts to put your real name when u make a comment... by the way I'm pretty sure sania's diet has a lot lot more than just curd rice on her menu... when you are saying Winning grand slams is not a must, that shows you are looser even by attitude...go get a life looser.

No one boters about the nation
by mukul shukla on Jan 17, 2008 01:33 PM  | Hide replies

In India wheter it is player or politician, no one bothers about the nation. Every one plays for themselseves or for their sponsors. This is evident from what has happend in Australia with Indian cricket Team and Sania thinking of leaving Tennis when she was cought disrespecting National Flag. Had these cricketers playing for nation, every one would have quit Australia, but they never did that. Just because otherwise they loose bug money. the same Sania did. She never opologised for what she did. rather she planned to quit tennis. this is shameful.

Mr Mukul,
Sania did nothing wrong..She did not disrespect the national flag..It was an optical illusion created because of the angle from where the snap was being taken..Actually she was sitting at a fair distance away from the flag..

Personally, it's not her fault at all. The Real Culprit though is Indian Sports. Say whatever one might, SPORTS IN INDIA IS STILL A NON EXISTENT ENTITY. TO THE AVERAGE (SUB - STANDARD) INDIAN BRAIN, SPORTS IS LIKE A PICKLE; JUST GOOD TO BE TASTED IN BETWEEN FOR SLIGHTLY TINGLING THE TASTE BUDS BUT CAN NEVER BE THE MAIN - COURSE...

Sania is sweet but will experience a beatdown.
by Lotsa Tang on Jan 17, 2008 01:18 PM

Come on Sania, win for India. Or wait, be beaten like you should. I can't believe you made it this far. That truly says how horrid women's tennis is. If some of the east european girls, who are cute, wouldn't play, women's tennis would be a cure for insomnia. I challenge any woman tennis player to play a male tennis player on a club level and win. No chance. Sorry chump but a straight set loss awaits. Go India :)

Drink more tang!

Straight Set Beatdown
by Lotsa Tang on Jan 17, 2008 12:39 PM  | Hide replies

Hi Sania,

Enjoy the trashing. You've barely won your other singles matches. Venus will give you the beatdown that you deserve. Congrats on making it this paper beating absolute journeywomen opponents. The WTA has horrid tennis players besides the top 10. I could beat 80% of the women on tour. How they pay these girls is laughable.

Millions of Indian join together to celebrate Sania's third round victory in ongoing Auz open. Its a great achievement for a girl from Hydrabad. I join millions in congradulating her and wish her all luck in next round and rounds to come. I wish she reaches as millions wish semis in the Auz open. Inshallah she will achieve this feat also, God willing. But certain mullahs like Mohd Khureshi was talking something irrelevant to tennis. He is talking of dress code while she has dressed which is required for the kind of tennis she is playing. The views of this man Khureshi is her personal views and nothing to do with Islam. Islam is a liberal religion and Sania has not violated any dress code of Islam. She is a sports person and she is required to wear certain dresses and let these people watch tennis instead of her dress and legs. This is totally rediculous and unwarranted. In the meantime, controversy apart, lets all join to motivate this Hydrabadi girl to achieve more feat in the years to come. She is the first women tennis player to reach top 30 and made India proud. Even certain sick people belong to other communities started talking something personal and commenting on her show of legs and body. To them, if any one of their daughters or sisters was playing the kind of tennis Sania is playing, will they ever make such kind of comments or will they ever tolerate such comments from others. Educated people must behave decently and speak not vulgarity. Lets watch tennis not leg

Keep posting such messages as it helps improve the Indian Muslims image and it helps clear the misunderstandings.

Venus is strong and experienced player and former number one. It is going to be difficult but out wishes are with Sania.

Sania is the pride of India. Only bigots, jealous and good for nothing people could take pride in criticizing, discouraging and maligning her for flimsy things. She is a winner and not a quitter. Quitters never win and winners never quit.
