by chandra pichika on Jan 15, 2008 04:37 PM

If he is really gaining an advantage over able bodied men then let them also cut of their legs to gain this advantage. He was born with this condition and strived to excel IAAF want to cut him down and don't want to be embarased with someone who show true Olympic sprit. If was alowed to run in the paraoylmpics he should be allowed to run in bejing.

Sad but good decision

Pistorius is a shining example of human triumph. But the decision not to allow him compete in the Olympics is a welcome one as he has an unfair advantage over the others..

If only such rational decision making was present in cricket then the likes of BS Chandrasekhar and Muralidharan would not have capitalized on their disability.

unfair dealing

It is a quirk of fate. While the world promotes and encourages people like Pistorius to do the impossible, here we have the so called guardians of olympic philosophy destroying his spirit. Who the heck are these guys anyway. Do they have half the gumption to take him on. If they really believe in the spirit of Olympics then why do they have professional players competing. The bottom line is people come to watch athletes perform, they are talking of his unfair advantage, think of the trauma and hinderances this guy has faced in his life and with his indomitable spirit today he is challenging the fit and fine.... and here we have the villains of true grit and determination who want to derail his spirit. Shame on these guys.

Unfortunately............

The saddest thing is that he's probably the only guy who embodies the "true olympic spirit", amidst all the cheats, the sponsors vying for TV coverage, the countries showing off their muscle in the medals tally, officials who make money doing nothing, local citizens suffering from the crowded & polluted streets etc...

Right decision

Pistorius needs praise from all quarters for his heroism. But letting him compete would be a mistake, since his prosthetics bring in uncertainty into the matter.

If he tried, he could be a better high jumper than anyone else due to the spring in his artificial legs.

Wrong decision

Gutsy Pistorius must not be barrd. Steroid -using athletes have an unfair advantage but they are often barred only if the tests prove positive. In his case , please see that he's not even cheating like the steroid-users.
The least one can do for Pistorious and disadvantaged persons is to let him run with the best in the business while restricting his right to medals and records.
One other ,alternative way of honouring his indomitable will is to let him cartry the torch inrto the stadium and do a lap of honour.
Are we so rule-minded that we forget basic human decency ?

Shame On You!!!!
by ram dalal on Jan 14, 2008 08:36 PM

here is a guy whose strong will and determination have led him from being labeled from an amputee to an athlete , And all that the Olympic Committe can do is ban him from achieving his dream... Maybe its becoz that would prevent US doping cheats like gatlin and jones from winning .

shame on u IAAF
