I support mr rajeev and wish him all the luck he needs to establish himself in world of tennis..i agree he is not one of us..but yet again he proves that our country lacks the basics requirement to groom any individual to professional level....govt needs to invest, create interest, create idols(Amritaj brother, Ramesh krishnan) make kids discover the game ..bt i know its just a wishful thinking its never going to happen not in india...so its better that i migrate so atleast i can be close to achieve what cant ever in india.. its pity after all we hold 1/4th of the world population

Yes...Better to immigrate to another country where you think you can live in. You'll have better infrastructure for most of the sports...except kabaddi. Also, not many of us are doing great things for this country's infrastructure. And if somebody wants to do something, the bureaucracy will most certainly come in the way.

must be reservation for indian player

dont claim an american to be an Indian. Mayawati and Arjun Singh must approach these countries for reservations.

Rajjev Ram Repersentation
by Gandhi on Jan 13, 2008 09:21 AM

Its not proper to claim that he repersents India. He may be well supported during the tournament by people of Indian orign, but fact remain he is American and repersenting USA.

rajiv ram's qualification to aussie open
by sundararajan ganesan on Jan 13, 2008 07:59 AM  | Hide replies

one is happy with rajiv ram's qualifying in the main draw of aussie open. though he is a yankee(!), still he is of indian origin. of course, our country cannot take too much credeit on the achievements of the likes of rajiv ram, sunitha williams, kalpana chawla etc.
better, more and more opportunities must be created for the talented/meretorious/patriotic to realise their potential ---whether it is in science, arts, sports or in public life.
happy pongal to you pals!

I agree mostly on what u said. One distinction though - Kalpana Chawla's case is different - India groomed her - she got most of her education in India. So India can claim some share of the pride.

Gujjus should learn Sunita Williams is not Gujju or Indian
by Mark Cherian on Jan 13, 2008 01:20 AM  | Hide replies

pathetic that we Indians need US to tell us whom to felicitate...Same with Oscars...why we need an Oscar? Filmfare shud be enough..And let us call it Bombay film industry instead of bollywood..

Filmfare awards are a FARCE and oscars are not a farce.. Indian or not, awards like filmfare are a disgrace. They just give awards to financially successful movies, period
