Bhupathi using juniors
by cricfan on Feb 29, 2008 02:01 AM  | Hide replies

It is quite sad for Indian tennis that too much ego is hurting its progress. Bhupathi should know that he came up only after playing with Paes. I have followed both Paes and Bhupathi since the first time each played their tennis. Though Paes some times doesnt know how to control his emotions in public, it is a fact that his contribution to Indian tennis is far more than any other player till date. Bhupathi should learn to contribute some thing to the country before playing politics and ruining this sport. Please see how many people are taking up this as a sport now after seeing all this drama.

you have got a unidimensional view singha, and you will see that there is a generalised public favour in support of peas, same cannot be said of bhupathi

Nonsense. Bhupati any day is a better double player. Results speak out for themselves.

paes though is infinitely better in PR like shah rukh khan.

Bhupati Rocks...............!!!
its time enough for an aged player like Paes to go off...........!!!(atleast from playing singles that also the last matches in a tie to players ranked some 700 in the world)

He has done this time and again........!!!
but cant blame him he has learnt this art from Ramesh Krishnan who used to do so just for credit....!!!

Its only when u play a 5 setter match that too in the decider u are called a hero. No matter who the opposition is, No matter ur other team mate is expected to crush him as nut in straight sets u see an oppurtunity 2 be a hero and grab it with both hands and guess what voila u r a national hero, u have millions of fans u r the greatest player and so on....

If I were a team i would never had questioned the integrity of my mate, No one loses a match willingly atleast NOT my mate would,
but isnt it an excellent escape If the team wins its I who played all good the other player was a joker standing out there and if the team loses its the joker who cost us the match....... this isnt professional... not even a KG kid would say so..........

Its time that the country needs services of both players in singles Get on guys...!!!
Let others also come through...!!!

No doubt u are a teat still in doubles just concentrate on that eithertogether or seperated anyways.....!!!

That bhupathi tennis village is an absolute farce..They want only rich kids there...These kind of people dont deserve a place in the society....I had a friend of mine who was not taken there since he could not afford to pay the kind of money 10 years ago....He was head and toes much better than those rich kids who joined there...Unfortunately had to give the dream of playing tennis cos he didnt have the "right" people to promote him in karnataka....Finally gave up tennis...Iam sure there are many ppl like my friend in india and let me tell you this bhupathi does nothing for tennis in india....He just has a big mouth....Some of you need to go there and check out how his dad behaves when you say you cant afford...He doesnt even care whether you have the talent or not...Sad scene really

Media is hyping this up and you guys are falling for it

Kindly ignore this matter guys, it is much ado about nothing because the Indian Mens Tennis is way down the rankings and not worth talking about.

In Davis Cup, the teams that really matter are those in the World Group (top 16). India was last in that group in 1998. After that we have only been fooling around in the Asia Oceania Group I (The most flattering description of this group is Best Also-rans of Asia/Oceania). We sometimes reach the final round in this group which promotes us to the World Group Play-offs (which decide the teams who play the next World Group) but there we routinely get thrashed and revert to Asia/Oceania Group I. So whether we win or lose against Japan next, the situation will not be much better than what has been happening in the past 10 years.

Secondly, Japan is ranked ahead of us in the World (21st to our 26th) and while our best players (in Singles) are somewhere in the 200 in ranks, Japan has players ranked much higher. So most likely, whichever the team we present in the tie against Japan, we will be thrashed.

Indian Mens Tennis is in a bad shape because we do not have good Singles players any more. Therefore not much to gain by debating this losing team and whether Lee is right or Hesh is right etc. That's only media hype.

Currently the only good thing in Indian tennis is Sania Mirza - she is way above any other Indian in singles rankings. Yet we criticise her bitterly. Sometimes I think we fans are so bad we don't deserve better.

I agree. Amritraj brothers took India to the Davis Cup finals, and then Ramesh Krishnan and Leander Paes broguth some glories. But for quite some time there has been little success to talk about. However, to question the commitment and integrity of someone like Paes is most unfortunate.

When people do not get along with each other they will question commitment, integrity, whatever of each other. The thing is, as Tennis fans, what can we do about that and why should we be bothered about that. Especially since whatever happens, it will not move us away from AsiaOceania Group I.

What will indeed help us is if one or two of the men in Singles rises to at least the levels that Sania Mirza is touching in Womens Tennis. That is what matters, not how much they like or dislike each other.

Incidentally, Tennis is essentially and individuals game. Most tennis teams in the world suffer from personality clashes amongst their top players - so what's happening here is not new, nor to be bothered about.

The loser here is Indian Tennis
by Vinal Gandhi on Feb 28, 2008 10:26 PM

The loser here is the Indian Tennis. In Paes and Bhupathi we have two excellent players who have done the country proud playing together or separate. They were World's No.1 doubles team at one time. The AITA should do something good for a change for all the money they are spending by brokering a long lasting peace between these two
